Colbert became GM in 2000... not 2010.

I thought he became Director of Football Operations in 2000?? Well, if that's the case, now I have to change my whole assessment of his career based upon this new info. I no longer consider him to be overrated and definitely first ballad HOF, but his drafting since after the 2010 draft hasnt been anything special. I still stand by some longtime issues with scouting for this team also...especially when it comes to the secondary. The one player they drafted that was halfway decent in the last 10 years they let go.

We’ll keep the car rolling, but some may need to ride in the trunk.

Actually I'm generally against this type of thing. Coach K reportedly nixed the guy Admin wanted to hire at Duke because he still wanted input even after he retired. If KC wants to retire thanks for all your work, see ya. If someone is qualified to be hired fir that job he does not need "coaching" from KC. He needs the opportunity to succeed or fail on his own merit. How the heck can he ever put his own stamp on the team of the previous guy is looking over his shoulder. It's one thing for him to have an open line and graciously offer advice if asked, quite another to be hovering around in an official capacity.

While I do hear what You are saying....As in anything You can bring your own thing(stamp) on things, but I believe foolish(IMO) not 2 see, notice, and use the available resources(experience)of someone that has been in the game awhile. No matter how much someone knows ....You can always pick up things from others, and should never stop learning. JMO

We will leave no stone unturned, we intend to meet the enemy and defeat him with sheer numbers and lots of fries and coleslaw. We shall never surrender. Or just pick intern Timmy who provides Tomlin's word of the day calendar.

I would think they must want to keep Hunts and Khan in their current positions if interviewing all these candidates.

    I’m still hoping for Dodds.

I'm clearly confused. I thought they would move the best candidate up. Guess they are not what they want.

Why do you think Khan or Hunt are the best candidates?

I think he meant the best out of those two and just promote from within as they usually do.

I don’t have anything against either of those guys but I am encouraged by the extent of this search.

    I don't. I didn't clearly write what I meant I guess.
What I meant was I thought they would move up the best candidate of who we already had on board.

Just got done reading about this. I wouldn't hate it, if for no other reason than not having to turn the volume down during MNF.

Believe me, I hear you. But, the numbers you base your argument on can hang you.

First he's been coach for 15 years, not 16. Until very recently only 6 teams out of 16 made the playoffs from each conference per season. That means, all things being equal, you have a 37.5% chance of making the playoffs. Which gives you an 18.75% chance of winning a playoff game per year.

Tomlin's teams have made it to the playoffs in 10 of his 15 years. That's 66.66...% of the time. Almost double the law of averages(37.5%).

Tomlin's teams have won a playoff game in 4 of 15 seasons. That's 26.66% of the time. That's 30% higher than a team should expect vs the average.

He has a 65% win record over 15 years. That's 23% higher than average.

The numbers all add up to being a well above average coach.

That being said, a change isn't always a bad thing.

Kevin Colbert is the best GM the league has had in the past 20 years. The only guy who compares is Ozzie Newsome. They are both HoF GM, based on team building, stability, competing, everything. The league does not have better than that, it has been excellence for 20 years.

Considering what Colbert has done this week, I can see why he/they didn’t want a new guy helping to stir the pot

    Just my thought
