Your suppose 2 do it with Your hand flat on a table, or surface. Mine is 9, and 7/8s, and I always thought I had small hands until I heard about 8.5.

I just checked, and my hand is a hair under 9 1/2”. I’ve never had a grip-related problem throwing an official NFL ball, other than a ball that was used so much that the grain of the leather smoothed out.

Now take an inch off that . You don't think You would have trouble in the cold raining days late in December, and on?? If You took that inch off??

Yes I do. I am concerned about Pickett in an environment that can be cold, wet and windy. He’s a better fit for a Southern team, and even more ideal for a dome team like Atlanta or New Orleans.

I did spread it flat on a surface, fingers and thumb spread as much as they could, put a ruler between the tip of my thumb and tip of my pinky, I got 8.5". I am not certain if its the further part of the the skin on each, which might get me to 8.75", but regardless, my hand size is almost exactly Picketts and from my experience with a pro-size football, that is not a good thing.

EXCEPT for when he had to play a team in a wet or cold climate in the playoffs. Looking good all year and...IMPLOSION! LOL
That said good regular season and playoff dud is the new Steelers standard, so maybe he'll fit right in? Sorry, I couldn't help it. I miss power football, now we're all finesse and a pushover in the playoffs. Sigh.

I remember when men were debating the size of something else

Although, dimensions were based on the length of a cubit or grains of rice

Nah. We are the Steelers, and We shall triumph.
Thing is if He played good enough with the Saints, or Atlanta they could get home field. Hell Brees had trouble outside.

Congrats my friend! You will have to trust me on this, but an ESPN report stated 9 7/8 was the average starting QB hand length among NFL Qbs between 2010 and 2021. While 8.5, with the amount of fumbles Pickett has in his past leads me to believe this could be an issue. He had 9,7,7 his first 3 years. Last year 3, did he just learn better control? Perhaps, but it certainly is something to be concerned with.

I could have been a Qb starter. I knew My coaches were wrong when they said I couldn't throw. LoL. :lolol:
Well My hand size might be good for it , but apparently nothing else was.

I don't follow Pitt football and have been tuning out draft stuff as per usual but heard Ryan Leaf talking about the Grand Canyon size leap in Pickett's yearly TD totals from 9 to 42. What was the reason for that jump?

    He got better.
I really don't know , but either way the hand size (whether stupid, or not) bothers Me. Some say well it's only half of an inch smaller than Burrows, but add a half of an inch 2 anything, or take a half of an inch off of anything, and You will notice a difference.
Like I stated before Mike Vick had the same hand size, and He fumbled the ball 98 times, He only played 13 year(not all starting), and predominantly indoors. His fumbles are up there with guys that played predominantly outdoors with way more years.
So make of that what You will.

I’ve had it in the back of my mind that the Steelers are rolling with Rudolph this year. I mean, there is a blatant disrespect to Rudolph by his own teammates when they are asked who they want as QB. Almost makes me think it’s all a smoke screen and targeting another position in the first rd.

They play 2022 with Rudolph and if he doesn’t have it, they address the QB next season in what is being touted as a much better class.

then they are putting a lot of wasted time into this smokescreen. do we really need our head coach and GM wasting time making it look like we want a qb when we truely do want a qb. even if he is the man, he is the only one we have under contract. even if they sign haskins we still need one. now i could see some infighting between colbert, art2 and tomlin about who they want. just like when the got ben and cowher wanted a different position. remember colbert is making this call as his way of leaving the team in a good spot. having mason is like an ace in the hole. all he has to do is be a game manager if they put a good enough team around him. maybe they do wait until round 2-3 this way and take a flyer on a guy like kelly.that then leaves the decision up to tomlin and the next GM. i'm not sure colbert will do that.

I pray this is how it goes :beg:, or of course if Haskins legitimately beats Him out roll with Him. I say roll with whomever beats who, and see what We got before taking a chance on someone that might not beat either one if it wasn't for their draft position. You know if We draft someone (Qb) in the 1st it won't be a real competition.
I know others will laugh, but outside of speed....if You go by the college production, and combine....Nobody really is Head, and shoulders above what Mason, or Haskins did, and I'm going by College, and combine.....because the other is all I can grade them equally against.

It’s really not as big a production as you are making it out to be, teams use misdirection every draft. With how much they telegraphed their interest in Harris last year, it would actually be very savvy if they had their eye on someone else for the first rd other than Willis.

It’s never a waste of time to do your due diligence because you never know how the draft will unfold. They don’t have to take a QB in the first rd. If misleading people about Willis and their overall interest in a QB for the 1st rd leads them to land the player they actually covet, job well done.

If they do decide to play Rudolph this season, it would take no effort at all to sign Dobbs and Haskins to round out the depth chart. Haskins I think they already retain his rights for this season.

I think they’ll be exploring every option, going in to a season with Mason as the starter would be a hard sell to the fan base. He is not popular (somewhat unfairly IMO) and if it doesn’t get off to a good start the fans will be on his back mercilessly.

If they get him a functional OLine and design the offence around him then I’d expect he will be much better than in 2019 but I still think his role in this league is as a backup. He is a poor man’s Jimmy G IMO, might do ok and win games in a very good setup but won’t be a difference maker.

Hey. If He gets Me a top flight CB that's a shut down type Guy for 10 years....that's a legacy pick IMO.

He has been filling in on Rich Eisen's radio show an had some interesting comments. He has fully embraced what his legacy is in the NFL and the mistakes he made. He had some real moments talking about Mental health and CTE and what it's like coming into the league now as opposed to in 98 and that stigma of mental health and wellness
