i dont have problems w the thread title

about Witherspoon: he has confidence which is a good thing, corners can get beaten and demoralized very easily (see Artie Burns, James Pierre). Also, he said he needed some time on the bench to learn the defensive scheme and wasn't ready at first to start. It took him the last quarter of the season but he played well enough to keep him. multiple interceptions along with some keys plays

we don't need 13 starters. we paid haden 15 million last year. 6 mil. a year for a starting DB is not bad. 4 years 25 million would be a bargain. you get rid of tuitt and save 9. 68 million. you ger rid of banner and save 1.625. you get rid of ebron and save 3.9 mil. you get rid of watt and save 1.96 million. heck devin bush would save you 6 million. we have 31 million right now. those guys would be 23 million more. 54 million dollars would go a long way along with the draft picks. the following year you lose all the dead money we would have this year. or we parlay ben's into 2 seasons and save about 7 mil. more this season. 61 million to gather players would be tits.

Not trying to be pedantic but your figures are a bit out. Ebron is a UFA and is gone with no way out of the dead money, Banner $5m and Watt is $2.75, Tuitt $4.2m.

Schobert is actually the big one, $8m saving if he is cut.

They can make lots of other moves too like restructuring Watt, Heyward etc. no issue at all with cap room this offseason and I think fans might be pleasantly surprised at the roster they can put together if they decide to throw everything they can at it

3 years $18m with a nice signing bonus for him and a get out for the team after year two would be very fair for all parties. If he continues to play well they can extend him after year two.

He found some form towards the end of the season and would be foolish to leave a system that is suiting him. I’d imagine that he would be very amenable to a fair deal in Pittsburgh

At 7 million a year starting CBs get way more than that.

    Hey Disco.

    Good to talk to you.

I have only posted this about 100 times or so here in that Tomlin's resume distinctly shows that his coaching "specialty" per se is the Secondary. This team's failures of drafting and developing Secondary talent is horrendous. It has been written about in the Post-Gazette as well. It is thoroughly "Disgusting" as I say around here.

Again, my suggestion is to build our Secondary through Free Agency with proven players like Fitzpatrick, Nelson, Haden, Hilton and whoever else. At least follow this process until (if it ever happens) this coaching regime can prove that:

    1. They can draft quality Secondary personnel.

    2. They can coach them up.

I have never seen such a horrific track record in my life like this.

It’s actually way better than a title like “should we?” Or “hypothetical.” At least we know who he wants to talk about. I mean, he answered your catch phrase question right there in the title.

I think the guy is a capable starting NFL corner. Most corners get beaten on a fairly regular basis in today’s NFL, especially against better QB/WR combos. The true “shut down corner” is extremely expensive when he hits free agency. He’s particularly solid in zone coverage, though I’d like to see him tackle the catch better. In man coverage, he matches up well against taller receivers. I would definitely try to resign him if the market for his services doesn’t go wild, and I don’t think it will.

Although it took time, Cam Sutton is homegrown. Finally! They have been terrible drafting corners as we all know hence looking outside.

With Haden jetting you have to make a reasonable offer to Witherspoon. Their will be other suitors. He played pretty solid after getting on the field when Haden was injured. He doesn't play special teams.

Pierre was a major disappointment after he showed promise last season. Layne is still a joke, just a special teamer.

    Many needs ahead.

i think sutton should stay in the slot. he did well there and the whole secondary played better when he did. we must keep witherspoon and we need another starter, either draft a top rookie or we need another free agent or keep haden another year. he would have to take a cut in pay though.

My Catch phrase? You talking about when I post "Who"? If so that means one of a few things.
    1. Could mean you're posting something that's not Steelers related.
    2. Could mean Who gives a rats ass.
    3. Could mean you're posting in the wrong section.

this - PS, love your Sig to Ben. Yes, they will have to make a large offer to Wither, as I commented earlier. Part of necessity, kind of like when we SUCKED at CB in 2012 and had to overpay a few years for Ike Taylor. Norwood 21 also played a nice role, Yes - S i know, but did a heck of nice job as a rook.

If Haden doesn't get injured maybe were not having the conversation about "Witherspoon" Due to Haden's injury we got to see what he brings to the table. He needs to be retained.
