It is an HBO special. Didn't want to watch it thinking it would be all Terry singing and telling jokes but gave it a try.

If you can put up with a bit of him singing and joke telling it is a good watch for those of us old enough to have watched the 70 Steelers. Technology has fined tuned his college clips and the 70's. A lot of our younger fans only see him as a old chubby down home boy. Hard to imagine him in his prime. Video shows he was one tough MFer. With age comes maturity and he is really frank about his relationship with Noll.

His struggles were all over the papers in the early days. He said the turning point was the "the catch".

If you get HBO you might enjoy it.

I bought a $2 book about Bradshaw that was written before he won SB IX

The only part I remember is it noted the first time anyone realized he had a lot of potential was in a high school football game. He overthrew the receiver…….

I like Terry but it's hard for me to look at him as the best we've had. When you have the Steel curtain able to get you a win just by kicking a FG says a lot.

I get hate every time I say it. So I don't expect anything less. ..... But Terry was just an average QB who was blessed to be with the steel curtain. And he is an amazing person off the field.

Whatever. Bradshaw was much better than Roethlisberger in the playoffs. It's not even close.

Terry Bradshaw is 4-0 in Super Bowls.
I was there personally for all 4 and most of the in-season games/playoffs.
Chuck Noll definitely had issues with Bradshaw as Noll wanted to run the ball and play suffocating defense.
Bradshaw on the other hand, wanted to throw the ball.
He once told me personally that whenever the 'Steeler defense created a turnover, he was always going to go deep to hurt the other team.'
    He did just that.
Bradshaw was missed when he went down to injury.
He fit into that team like a glove. While I don't think he was 'elite' (212 TDs/210Int's - Drove Noll nuts) he was the 'Field General' for those teams.
1979 was a year that I thought would last forever. Steelers and Pirates. Bradshaw and Willie "Pops" Stargell where my favorite athletes and they were on top of the world.
    Greatest year ever.

Ever notice his throw? He put his index finger on the point of the ball.
As a QB, I tried that and always wound up throwing a knuckle ball... lol.

I really hated those last couple years with that tore up elbow.

Also, during his playing days he was 6'3" and usually around 210-220.
On the NFL Sunday shows, he looks 5'10" or so... guess his expansion shortened him.

Just rattling off some good memories.

And for some reason, more than half of those interceptions seemed to go to blue uniforms

While I love both that is not entirely true. He had quite a few playoff game where He threw more ints than Tds. They just happened 2 win anyway. Because His team was so good.
If Ben had more ints than td We lost for sure in the playoffs.
As far as SB Terry won a SB with less than 100 yards passing, and only 1 td, but On Ben's 1 td game in the SB everyone says it was the team that won.
People just forget some of those playoffs games Terry Bradshaw had. Nostalgic.
Now again I personally don't want 2 rate one over the other, but I don't want the other stepped on with untrue facts.
    TB playoffs 30tds , 26 ints.
Ben playoffs 36 tds, 28 ints.
Also ones playoffs started His rookie year, and SB His 2nd year.
The other playoffs 2 years later, and SB 4 years later.

Oh yeah, I saw that a few weeks ago. It was pretty good.

He actually is a really good singer, I was surprised. He might have had a huge music career if he decided to do that after Football.

My other takeaway is he battles with some serious mental issues. I know he says he has depression, but it sounds more like being bipolar with extreme highs and then swinging really low.

Just for a comparison I looked up 4 SB winning QBs from the 70s. Different styles, but pretty close in career yardage. Stabler threw more into than Tds, Griese 20 more tds than ints career, Staubach far better at around 50 more tds than ints. Remember it was a different time, DBs got away with far more physically than today's game.

Like I said, I expected no different of hate

You might should look at 74 season. He lost his starting job, and how Gilliam is the one who got them there.

It took him time to learn. Then he started to shine in the late 70s, but only lasted a few seasons before he started having his elbow injuries that ended his career.

So yeah, Big Ben puts terry to shame with how many seasons he excelled at, and truly playing through injuries.

Give Big Ben the steel curtain and there's no doubt Ben would have 6 rings at a minimum.

....... PS I'm not saying Terry sucks. He was great those few seasons. But he is not the best QB our organization has ever had.

Big Ben is my #1 the more and more I keep looking at his numbers.
O'Donnell #2. With Terry very close right behind him. I can make an argument for both of the be #2.

My step cousin a few times removed or something like that, lived next door to Bradshaw when he was in his early career. Bradshaw was nice enough that he would play catch with him and other neighborhood kids when they got home from school.

I somehow missed these stories about the last guy.

Did you watch Super Bowls X, XIII and XIV? Did Terry look like an “average” quarterback while he was throwing those missiles to Swann and Stallworth at the most critical points in those games?

    Those are rhetorical questions, BTW.

Did you really just put Neil O’Donnell ahead of Terry Bradshaw on the list of Steelers quarterbacks? I did misread that, didn’t I?

If I can't see any of his games in HD, he sucked.

There's your new post for you. That's all you needed to say. You're welcome.
