Boswell has an 88% career field goal % vs. 80% for Anderson.

Im going with Boz, but I agree with Colquitt.

Anderson was almost automatic from the 30 in though. But I'd agree Boz is edging Gary out they'd be 1-2

For punter I need to give Mark Royal the love. He did it with Magnum PI style.

Sure they can all kick a football.
But can they kick an empty paper towel machine?
    That's a true athlete.

I can’t find it, but didn’t Mitch Berger shank a punt off the defense head and Pittsburgh recovered for a first down? To me, that’s the greatest punt in Steelers history.

Wow, kicker is tough. Anderson, Boz and Reed were all great for extended periods of time (Boz still is, of course). Just because of his longevity here, I have to give Anderson the edge right now. But whenever Boz is done here, my pick very well may change.

Punter may not be "easy", but for me there's nobody close "enough" to rival Colquitt. Yeah, he wasn't here as long as I'd have liked, but when he came in it was like he rescued the Steelers special teams, as watching Walden by that point had become excruciating. Not only that, but many now don't realize what a revolutionary Craig was. His one step punts (which he didn't use all of the time), instead of the typical two steps used by everyone else, were almost always every bit as good as any other punts in the league. It wasn't long after that that you began seeing more of it from other punters around the league, including the great Reggie Roby, who too often gets credited with "introducing" it to the league, just because of how great he was. But Craig did it well before then.

It's kind of relevant for the period they played. Year in and out Gary and Morten Andersen seemed to battle as the all time most accurate kickers. Gary ended slightly ahead of him, Morton ended just under 80 per cent yet is in the HoF. Today 80 per cent would be mediocre. Jan Stenerud was at something like 68% and made the HoF lol

Old School, Roy Gerela (Gerela's Gorillas)
But his max was ~45yrds. And he caused a momentum change in a Super when Lambert embarrassed Cliff Harris over him.

Gary Anderson is my favorite after that.

I tell you who is not, their current punter.

Although Boswell makes a case for best kicker. He’s a stud.

I had to look it up, 2nd to Anderson. I forgot what brought Reed to us. We had a decent K in Kris Brown who was taken by the Texans in the expansion draft. A team could only protect so many players and they took Brown.

Roy Grerela won 3 SB. For those that think 2 SB have some factor on Big Dumbs worth.

People keep stating Big Dumb should be in the HOF and state he won 2 SB as a reason. He sucked in one. SBs aren’t what should get him in. Other credentials will get him in.

Gerela is also responsible for one of the biggest tackles in Steelers history. On the opening kickoff of the 1976 Super Bowl the Cowboys ran a reverse to Hollywood Henderson that would have been a sure touchdown if it wasn’t for Gerela’s tackle in Steelers territory.

The defence was able to hold and the Cowboys came away with no points. Unfortunately for Gerela he broke some ribs on the tackle which affected his kicking the remainder of the game.

One of the most underrated plays in Steelers history IMO.
