Belichick made his son the Patriots DC, Austin is qualified for the job.

Once I saw that the giants were bringing Austin in for an interview. I knew, that the steelers would panic and play their hand.

Is this a list of guys he didn't need to help or ones that regressed?

That's the list of guys who played well while Austin was the secondary coach.

Patriots are a better ran organization than the Steelers. BB is 20x the coach Tomlin is.

And so the first proves the second how exactly? Haden and Nelson were good players before Austin. Minkah's best season was the year he was traded and the Steelers were smart enough to say just play like you know how and we will adjust. Hilton is going to the Superbowl based on an expanded role with the Bengals. The Steelers used him for primarily slot corner blitz which he excelled at. None of these things proves Austin improved their game but it also doesn't prove he didn't. Although I'd say the last two years the three guys still on the team regressed.

The turnovers increased once Austin became secondary coach.

Ok how so? Interceptions and fumbles caused by the secondary? Balls tipped by 1st or 2nd level guys that are up for grabs? Strip sacks by TJ?

Look you are trying to be upbeat and positive about this and I applaud the effort but your examples are very vague ones.

I remember me and @AskQuestionsLater having this discussion and the secondary seemingly playing better when they brought Austin on board.

Obviously the biggest factor was Minkah.

There were reports that when Austin was hired, he emphasized taking the ball away, if you want to be Debbie Downer then go ahead .

No I want to discuss football and not simply rubber stamp something because this source or that source says so. You quickly dismissed what should be exhibit 1 on the type of job Austin is doing and that is taking a raw talent with impressive measurables in Layne and should at least have him up to the level where he either is or isn't ready to play the pro game. You threw 4 names that are guys who played well while Austin was here but really doesn't prove the point and then you threw out turnovers are up but no context to what that means in regards to Austin as a position coach. Debbie Downer would be saying oh we suck, worst hire ever, he is a puppet and so on. Don't link to someone's else opinion, don't spit out what this talking head or that talking head says, I can find all that stuff with Google. Tell us why you are backing the move.

Yep having really talented guys helps more than it hinders but you look at last season especially guys in the secondary blowing assignments to watch for rbs or mobile QB's. Communication seemed to be off and it will be interesting to see if some of the growing pains were because of Butler and Austin not meshing their systems. Going to be plenty written about the change come June and July for minicamp and OTA'S

Another brilliant move by Tomlin! Sadly it wouldn't matter if we had Lebeau and Buddy Ryan as our DC's...this team is never reaching another SB under Tomlin! Give us anyone but MT and at least we can have some hope...PLEASE ANYONE!!

It means I’d trust BB to appoint a coordinator 100x more than Tomlin. BB and his sons are film rats. Tomlin not so much.

Funny, I don't see a single example of a player who the steelers DRAFTED ever got better thank to Austin.

I named our top 2 draft picks a 1st rounder and a 3rd rounder and you give me 4 free agents the Steelers picked up. We really do need a DC that can help the players we actually draft!

How did Austin help Edmunds or Layne in the 3 years he has been here?
