He will not be the next DC. He will be the next guy to hold a clipboard, wear a headset and take the fall when DC Tomlin's scheme fails.

Should Austin go elsewhere, it would be a good indicator of how assistants feel about working under Tomlin.

I’d rather Austin stay as the DB’s coach. I’m not crazy about handing the reigns over to someone fired mid season from his DC position.

Go get Fangio and bring Munch along for the line. Massive upgrade to the staff with two moves.

This team is a joke! Austin gonna become DC. We got Canada as OC. Tomlin has everything he wants! 2 idiots as coordinators, so he can have full control. Rooney needs to pull his head out!:(

Just seen on Twitter that Steelers are working on a deal with Austin. Should be announced later today or tomorrow. What a joke.

The phrase too big to fail comes to mind. The buck may stop with the coach but when there aren't pawns to get rid of first that target sits squarely on him.

Well if He does have 2 much power that will bring about either one , or two things as I mentioned before. With all this rope He will either climb it 2 greater heights, or hang himself with it. Being a Steelers fan I hope for the former, and not the latter, but either way one will happen.

Yes they had multiple candidates in for interviews before deciding that what they had in house was better than the candidates they interviewed. Might have been left little choice since the Giants were going to interview him.

This team has become an absolute **** show. I’m so sick of these hires….absolutely zero effort to get better, just the Steelers way. Well the Steelers way is about to be an absolute joke. FU Rooney and Tomlin!

Steelers are permamantly stun-locked into looking backwards and inwards. No need to even go through the process this hire was done the day Butler retired and we all knew it.

NFL doesn't need fans anymore. That's just gravy. Covid proved it. No one in the stands and the NFL still made billions because of fantasy football and gambling.

It's over. The game is fixed.....

Keep in mind, Austin, was the.”outside” candidate just a short time back.
One could argue he still is.
