I can't wait to see this guy light the Ravens up Sunday Night and watch some of our fans start kissing his back-side Monday morning. Some fans have written off the season with Big Ben out, some fans want Charlie to start. There is a reason Lefty is starting over Charlie. Many of you speak out from fustration but come on guys we have two of the best backups in the league. Please don't take my post in a defensive way, I'm not trying to call out anyone on the their fan hood or what ever they call it knowadays but Lefty is gonna surprise alot of you tomorrow.

There's also a reason why Leftwich isn't starting anywhere. He has moments but, I like Charlie better. We'll see.

I hope you're right. I was thrilled when we got him back in '08 and I can't for the life of me figure out why so many people hate him. So he's slow as hell. Big deal. He's a quarterback, and in my opinion having a QB that can run is a bonus. So he has a long wind-up. Big deal. If our OL's protection is so bad that the extra 0.2 seconds he takes to throw makes or breaks us, we have bigger problems. And if that's all you got when complaining about your backup QB, you're spoiled. Yeah, he will need good protection and a strong running game tomorrow, but we were gonna need all that in order to be successful anyway.

Don't know about light up, but agree he will be solid. If the Steelers lose it won't be because of him.

There is also a reason Batch is a 3rd string QB too. Don't get me wrong, I really like the guy and what he has done for the Steelers but I think Lefty can get the job done.

Don't get my wrong, I like Byron as a back-up, but his windmill delivery kills me. Everytime I see it, I cringe.

Too much is made of his delivery, he's managed to stick around as long as he has in the NFL with that wind up, must be doing something right. He also led the Jags to a 12-4 record and playoff appearance with the delivery.

1 playoff appearance. Wow, awsome. And more than half of his career has been as a backup. He has a career QB rating of 79.5, impressive. Bens is 92.8 just saying.

And his 1 playoff appearance he was 18/31 for 179 yards and a pick. QB rating on that game, 61.1

So, what you are saying is that you want a franchise QB at backup too, brilliant! Why hasn't anyone else thought of that

Lefty's stats as a Steeler:126 attempts, 10 touchdowns, no interceptions, 107.2 passer rating. OMG what a nightmare!

First of all I said I liked him as a back up. And check your stats, as a Steeler he's 33/57 428 yards, only 2 TD's and his QB rating is 92.3. So, yeah, he's a starter. Idiot.

The point I was trying to make is, his long wind-up makes him vulnerable to interceptions. DBs can get a jump on the pass with a long wind-up like that. Like I said, I like him as a back-up, only as a back-up. I have no problem with different opinions, but if you are going to start with stats to back up your arguement, so will I. Oh, not insecure at all, and i'm not litttle. LMAO

Yeah, he is a back up. Back ups start when your starter can't and that is what he is doing.

Is he as good as Ben? No. That is why he is a back up.

It's not my job to cross reference the stats a writer puts in his story. The numbers I posted were displayed in a story I read, not my fault if they are wrong. I know the point you are trying to make nor did I ever question whether you like Lefty or not, but he's been in this league a long time and if his delivery was such a hindrance, then he's likely be long gone from the NFL by now. We'll see how he does Sunday, I happen to think he will do good.

I SO hope you're right Tomlin. I personally don't care who gets the credit. I just want us to win. I really think it's gonna come down to the o line if you think about it. If they can manage to keep Terrell Thuggs in check and keep Lefty upright I think we can win. But if he's having to scramble all night we are gonna be in for a LOOOOONG night. We just need to keep Lefty in a rhythm I guess is what I'm trying to say.

    Standard is the standard huh?

I don't want to pile on the guy because I think there is alot to be said about getting quality reps as the back-up QB however if Tomlin's mantra is T.S.I.T.S than Lefty is way way below the curve. Even giving him the benefit of the doubt on Monday how many successful drives did he lead during the game? Even with rust and the weather and saying ok he hasn't played meaningful football in "X" amount of games, one scoring drive isn't going to cut it. So yeah he better have elevated his play during the week so he can meet the standard otherwise I say start Batch who can run the short passing game and doesn't require a clean pocket for his wind up and release.
