And comes by our polarizing WR, Johnson. I have to imagine this was directed at Canada and not Tomlin.

"We can only do what we're told to do."

    Like catching a routine pass?

    Sorry. Couldn't resist.

DJ needs to worry about catching the ball when it does come his way.

I’m sure it had nothing to do with the two perfectly thrown 3rd and short slants that bounced off his hands. I’m not defending Canada, who certainly needs to go, but DJ needs to look in the mirror. He cost this team what limited chances it had to keep the game competitive into the second half. The play calling in both of those sequences got us to 3rd and short, and had 3rd and short play calls that would have moved the chains if DJ hadn’t choked.

I’m guessing he was told to catch the ball?

Sorry, he opened that can up.

Let's face it for all the talk about wrinkles and new things being put in, the only change was working Juju back in and one series where they had Ben under center two TE'S and Watt which ended up being a hot read due to the jailbreak on the oline where Ben almost threw a pick. Otherwise is was back to the same crap they have been doing since week 2.

I’m sure DJ isn’t the only one that feels this way. What do you do if the offense doesn’t believe in the guy calling the plays?

Could help usher Canada out the door.

They have to dump him. Lot of beat writers saying how awful Canada was, too. Not just DJ’s implication.

I don't like this stuff coming out through the media. DJ had some big drops late in the season. I want to hear accountability, not finger pointing.

There is plenty to blame there don't get me wrong, even if you give 25% to Ben for being Ben he still didn't put the best players in position on his Oline. He didn't work on a run game plan, I think the biggest thing anyone who has the job or will have the job is going to face is that they need to plan to attack specific opponents each week regardless of if Tomlin thinks they are nameless grey faces. It's your job, not sure it can be saved by going well Coach Tomlin told me not to make a plan to go after Sorenson

Yeah, but it doesn’t change the fact that the suspect play calling did get us into 2 convertible 3rd and shorts that DJ choked away. This deflection of accountability is disturbing. Canada’s an easy target, but he was saddled with the worst offensive line in the league and an over-the-hill QB who couldn’t throw over the middle.

He was also asked about the next QB, twice, and both times he said "whoever they decide to bring in."

Not exactly a vote of confidence in MR or Haskins.

Only thing he should be tweeting is how he needs to make those 3rd down catches if he wants to be seen as one of the best.

Some throws were there that could have extended drives and open the playbook up a bit.

That reminds me too much of Any Given Sunday which was on during the early game yesterday where certain player liked the old stuff and the young guys liked the new stuff. In this case you have guys getting the ball from Ben and then in comes Canada and the yards and completions drop off and guys not getting stats.

No matter what happens this is a lost year. I blame Covid-19.

So DJ has been solid most of the season but started to stumble towards the end. Canada stumbled out of the gate

Yeah but let's not forget either on 3rd and 2 Ben takes a deep shot to DJ when both he and Juju are in the endzone covered by 3 guys when all they needed was 2 stupid yards to keep moving.

Agreed, but it still wasn't a good look for him to be pointing fingers elsewhere while acting as if his two drops were no big deal.

He is right but he also doesn’t have stone hands. Dropped 5 passes this year, not counting the playoffs. That’s among the fewest dropped passes this season.

Not trying to be argumentative with you, just not sure some fans are aware of that.

Last year was bad, 14 drops, he worked hard at correcting that and got it down to 5. DJ wasn’t the only one to drop passes or play poorly Sunday yet some fans (not you) are acting like that’s why they lost. As if they would have hung 40+ points on the Chiefs to keep up.

Oh hell yeah I don't mean to give the impression that it was Canada's fault just the stupidity displayed over the course of that game last night was just ridiculous.

He actually did have high praise for Rudolph.

“Mason is a great player, great quarterback,” Johnson said Monday in a video conference call with media. “He’s smart. Playing with him my rookie year, he’s shown he can win us games. In those tough moments, too, he can make plays. He’s relaxed. And at times on the sideline this year, he was always on it, telling us what to look for, what coverages they mostly were in. Just throwing out plays we could use to beat certain coverages and whatnot.“
