i'm not talking about colbert. kahn not getting the job and giving it to hunt if that is indeed what they are going to do. kahn is the VP of football operations. 2nd to colbert right now. hunt is a scout. that does two things. hurts the scouting department and the front office with salary dealings if omar kahn leaves because he doesn't move up.

Understood, yes on that comparison it's likely either/ or, the one you do not choose will not/cannot stick around. That Colbert is sticking around through the draft leads one to think they already have a succession plan in place. While many would salivate over the opportunity to be GM with the Steelers, that they would be hired after a draft they had no part on would seem strange.

It depends what sort of job Khan gets. If he is hired as a GM, the Steelers would be compensated with third-round picks in the next two drafts.

which i believe will be used by MT and hunt of course, and also believe gives MT more say so with the 43 million we have next season plus the money in 2024 that will be freed up after ben and the dead money is off the books. omar also won't be there to make these signings work down the road. colbert working with MT and doing the draft should have no effect on MT and hunt using the money in free agency. again i think giving more say so to MT in these decisions. back when ben was chosen colbert was very new and had little input in getting ben. cowher had more pull at the time and didn't want ben. colbert didn't make the decision to get him rooney did.

That's insulting to Hunt to insinuate he isn't qualified, and they would give him the job for the Rooney rule .

Does the Rooney rule even apply for that? Thought it was only for coaching positions.

But either way, I agree, has nothing to do with it. It’s been rumored for over a year that he was the front runner for taking over GM duties.

Handing the job to a person unqualified for the job over someone that is a lot more qualified is insulting as well.

omar kahn has been involved more than twice as long. that's insulting. all hunt has been is a scout. look at his qualifications, same as MT, they haven't had a losing season since he's been here. is that a qualification? he's never been involved in a contract of a player ever. kahn has been involved in every part of it for over twenty years. he hasn't had a losing record either if that's the measuring stick. that is insulting.

Whoever they choose, the GM must know talent, value. It is really imperative
with so many holes in our roster. This person needs to knock it out of the park.
