This would be the ideal time for Tomlin to retire

    Please No at Malik Willis. Unless it's a 3rd,or 4th round pick.

    Even then I wouldn't like it. Just sign Tyrod Taylor or Tyler Huntley when they become available.

    The same reason people say the dumbass, "anyone would be better than Tomlin" mantra.

    That's probably just exasperation of having the 3rd worst defense in the NFL playoffs over the last decade, and only beating Alex Smith in the playoffs who was 1-4 in the playoffs. The playoff record of QBs the Steelers beat since 2011 is 1-6.

    If Tomlin is the coach next year and Rudolph at QB I'm watching condensed games. (Tomlin will be the coach. We all know that. But it feels good to vent.)

    Be that as it may, if it's "dumbass" to ask who would you replace a future HOF coach with, then It's equally "dumbass" to say that "anyone" would be better. If that were true, why is no one clamoring for Joe Judge, or Marvin Lewis? After all, "anyone" would be better....

    Marvin Lewis made the playoffs 5 years in a row. That would be an improvement over our last 5 years. That's a whole lot to think about when you consider this window with Ben is almost closed.

    You think Tomlin could win a playoff game with Andy Dalton?! :facepalm:

    Ben on Sunday at 39 is better than Andy Dalton ever was. No one ever choked in big games more than Dalton- he is the Mike Tomlin of QBs.

    Best I can tell is it’s some random thought generator? Seems to happen in a lot of posts.

    You invoked Marvin Lewis. Andy Dalton's playoff passer rating is 58.

    If Jeremy Hill doesn't fumble with 1:30 left in the game then Marvin Lewis with AJ McCarron beats Mike Tomlin with Roethlisberger. You act like they are on totally different tiers of coach but they're pretty close.

    @SteelersMagic85@SteelersMagic85

    Nobody in this thread speculated Tomlin to be fired though. It merely speculated Tomlin resigning/retiring due to the organizational change from administration change to a huge personal change. Maybe he wants to be apart of the change going forward, maybe he doesn't. But it feels like a perfect time to ride off in the sunset for him.

    But who said that in this particular thread? A new HC could be significantly better or significantly worse; you never know until you cross that bridge. I was a Steelers fan before Tomlin and will be after Tomlin. I'll root for Tomlin to succeed if he's here in 22 and beyond. If he's successful, that equates to the team being successful. I won't root for him to fail. There's a 21 page thread on firiing him, if I wanted him fired, I would've replied there stating as much; however, I won't because 21 was probably his best year of coaching.

    I couldn't agree more with you about '21 being some of his best coaching. This has been an odd year for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Hopefully an odd year that ends with a special postseason run. Cheers buddy and Go Steelers!!!

    I wouldn't like it either, but if it was 3rd, or 4th round pick it wouldn't rankle Me as much.
