If Ben misses several games how much of an affect do you think it will have on home game attendance and ticket resale prices?

If the Steelers lose all of the games he misses and they end up, say 6-8 and out of the playoffs for the Cincinnati and Cleveland games then the stadium will be empty and tickets will be a dime a dozen.

Tickets will be much cheaper with Ben out, fair weather fans will think we have no shot etc. against Baltimore. Plus it's a late game, lots of season ticket holders don't like late games. I didn't get home till 2AM after the monday night game. But I was at work by 7:30AM. You should have seen all the tickets for sale. One guy had upper level 500's and was trying to get half of face value for them, so you could had two uppler level tickets for 40.00 a ticket. Only about 57,000 fans were there monday night. So that means about 8,000 plus no shows. The weather was horrible worse weather I was ever at for a game, actually i was more comfortable during the Jets AFCG when it was 5 below 0 out.
But, if Ben's out it will effect it for sure. Not a doubt in my mind you could scalp a tickets Sunday night for face value or under. Plus with the remaining home games we are playing pretty bad teams with losing records as of right now.
But sometimes the games around Chirstmas are weird, sometimes the demand gets high because out of town Pittsburghers come in and want to go to the game, so it drives demand up, but I base this on what our record is and what the weather is like, if you get a decent day the tickets go up in a hurry, but if the weather turns. You will get tickets dirt cheap. I have to say weather is the #1 factor in ticket scalping even if it's a good team we are playing.
Back in 2005 against the Bears, I took my brother in law and it was a cold day and it was the snow game. I scalped two tickets of a guy for $50.00 for the pair, so 25.00 a ticket, and we were 10 rows off the field, he said to me when he sold them, I'm not saying out in this crap. Well that's when the Steelers started the run, Bettis ran over Urlacher, and you know the rest.

When was the last time a game has been blacked out in the Burg?

I can't remember one but I do know theres abot a 20 year waiting list for tickets.

We've endured Malone, Blackwell, Brister, Maddox, Korkie and others.

Don't see it happening anytime soon.

I wasn't speaking of a blackout. Just wondering if a good number of people might opt to skip the games, thus flooding the market with tickets, thus creating cheaper tickets?

That's what I was looking at, getting some cheap tickets to the Chargers game and making another trip to the burgh.

do you mean cheaper than face value glenn?

not sure this far in advance, but ya never know. i wouldn't just sell my tickets to anyone, because of the chance to lose my seats if they screw up. that comes into play with season ticket holders.[IMG]

I went to Ravens game in 06 on Christmas Eve. Bought 4 tickets for $110 shipping and all. Man that was a long drive back VA after that loss. :frustrated::cry:

Home games are sold out for the forseeable future.Try becoming a Season Ticket holder (haha)
Being that the Yuppies and Corp. types will not go in adverse conditions which we have here in the Steel City
and Western Pa, and the absense of our best player, I would say you just got lucky with your friendly
    neighborhood scalper.

Ok, I'm from a cold state so I can say this with confidence...How anyone can hold a Steelers ticket and not go to the game is waaaaaaaay beyond me. I don't care if a blizzard is coming in! I don't care if its sleeting! I don't care if Old Man Winter, himself, wears a snowmobile suit because it's too cold. You could not keep me away! Why get a ticket if you don't plan on using it. If this were the situation here, I'm pretty sure that I could safely tell you there would be some yuppie and corporate types that would be getting their rears kicked on a regular basis. Ok enough of that!

I wasn't really talking below face value. Any idea what face value of a ticket in section 534 is compared to 134?
I wouldn't chance driving 11 hours with my family and buy from a scalper. I have always used the ticket exchange in recent years.
I wonder how people who sell tickets there or anywhere else can control what people do in those seats?

I'm not sure how accurate, but I believe
Face value on a 534 is around $75-$80
Face value on a 134 is around $88-$90.

If you do sell your seats, it's your resp. on what goes on in them. So if you sell them to drunk a-holes we get in trouble, you can get in trouble too, and if it happens enough times, the PSL holder can lose their seat license(s).

exactly. thats the biggest concern. you just never know who is buying them and there is alot at stake if they act the fool in your seats. there is also the parking pass cost. i can't speak for all ticket holders but just because a player is out, doesn't mean i won't go later in the year to watch the team play. we have had them since 1970 and there have been some bad years in that run. i know what glenn is saying about driving that far, but when we have had more people go then we have tickets, i have scalped tickets and they have been some of the best seats, i have ever had. i have never paid more than face value either. the closer to kick off the cheaper they get.

it used to be if you sent a check to the ticket office on tue. i think, they would sell you tickets that came back from the visiting team that they didn't sell on a first come first serve basis. i think the opposing team gets like 5,000. not sure if this is still a policy of the ticket office or not. if you didn't get the tickets they would send your check back. i believe you had to send a stamped envelope for them to send your check back. it may be worth an inquiry. that's the best i can tell you. good luck.[IMG]
