I do not want to give up picks for any vet QB. The good ones will cost a fortune in draft capital, the rest are not worth much. If someone like Cousins or JimmyG shakes loose for just signing money, I'd consider them. If they see anything at all in Mason, he should get some starts. For peanuts, and only if they are done with the Haskins project, I'd be okay taking a 1 year look at a Trubisky or Daniel Jones type, too. I don't love any of these kids in the draft but, and I don't see this... but it they were to add a couple good FAs (OL and D), I could live with a 1st round QB and just pray that Colbert gets it right and leaves on a high note.

Spend the next 2-3 of money on linemen, linebackers and other positions besides QB. Build the franchise and then draft a QB in 2-3 years. The QB will be cheap and the team around him will be good. That is the new method of success in the NFL. A cheap, young QB playing with a vet team. Then you have 3-4 years before the QB gets the big raise and turns the team’s salary cap upside down and you have to let good players go.
See Seahawks with Wilson, Chiefs with Mahomes.

Ridder in the 1st or start the reindeer so we can draft one in top 10 next year.

But....I can name a bunch of taller ones that have worked.
It's just like having a weaker arm . Doesn't mean you will suck at Qb, but it's a automatic disadvantage.

I mean.... if the Steelers are to take a long look at a QB, Malik Willis is someone I would consider in terms of a long term option. Granted, drafting him means that even the likes of Kenyon Green and Tyler Linderbaum are gone (both likely could be anyways) but Pittsburgh has had more success drafting QBs from Small Schools than any of the Power 5 ones. For that matter, both Bradshaw and Ben hail from non Power Five Schools themselves and they have turned out alright I would say.

Not saying that Malik Willis equates to being third times the charm but among his classmates, he is the one I would give some serious consideration to. If not him, Matt Corral is the other. If neither, what @HeinzMustard stated then; draft some damn Offensive Lineman so Najee can thrive and survive.

Jim Nagy's tweet is even a greater reason as to why merely looking at the QB alone is a grave mistake. People need to stop stating that the QB is an independent position all together as the QB is dependent on everything around him for him to succeed barring extreme circumstances. For that matter and, now looking at it, this tweet makes me like Kenny Pickett even less.

I see Baker get all those passes batted down, Howell wouldn't be my first choice.

Not sure I follow what he means by Willis not playing with a single NFL player this year. Who got it wrong with Josh Allen and Herbert?

The Steelers don't need to be like the Colts, they gave the Eagles a first round draft pick for Wentz, he couldn't even get the team to the playoffs.

what he is implying is willis's team mates made him look bad. i wonder why he didnt mention the defenses willis faced weren't exactly loaded with NFL like talent either. willis CHOSE to leave auburn to go play for liberty rather than compete for a starting job at a better program.

it is but these shorter ones have played qb as a shorter player their whole lives and it didn't really hurt them. they adjusted enough to be considered as top players in the draft and in major college programs. heck ben gets passes batted down and he's 6-5. sure i'd love to have a 6-5 guy but colbert has looked at howell and doesn't seem bothered by that height.

I don’t know what was said about Herbert but just about everyone wrote Allen off as not being accurate enough to be an NFL QB. Standard critique of Willis. And then his first season everyone was like see, as if a QB needs to be completely polished in their first season or will never be good.

Willis is immensely talented. If he goes to a good team, patient team, they will more than likely reap the rewards long term.

all of them have warts. heck bradshaw, ben and o'donnell had warts but got us to super bowls. that's the goal. manage the game, improve and don't kill us with turnovers and have enough help around them. the team will improve different positions. it won't be this year evey year going forward. you don't go into the year and say well we need to improve the o-line and that's all you shoot for. you can improve different positions at once.

It seems a bit silly to treat two quarterbacks as some sort of predictive trend, especially when one of them was drafted over 50 years ago.

I agree the most with u. But one point I disagree. It's more then "manage a game, improve and just don't kill us" to be successful. Calais Campbell explained this very well on his statements to Big Ben:"...because when the game is on the line, that's when his best football comes out. He made the plays he need to... He's a legend for making the playing in the critical moments... he's a worrior.."
There are so many talented guys outside. The attitudes described above are what count the most when it comes down for success, for beeing a champion. And that's what most QB and QB prospects don't have or fail to do.

That's the reason we all should be sad that Ben is done. A similar successor is so difficult to find. not only for the steelers

I stated if You go back that Herbert should be seriously looked at. During the senior bowl He looked like a Man amongst boys. Also at His combine. I'm still not sold on J. Allen , and when I say that everyone laughs. Of course the same people laughed when I said it about J. Goff. So ....I don't mind.

You are going to be wrong about Allen. Actually, not going to be, you are :lolol:

He regressed this season and was still very good. He’s the real deal.
