Saunders was cut due to Paulson and possibly some other issues we dont know about. Ta'amu was cut to make room for another player at a position of need. Once he clears waivers they're suppose to sign him back to the PS and probably back to the active roster. If they were just going to cut him and let him go due to his issues they would have done it once all this mess started but they didn't.

I think when you claim someone they have to go on your roster...they're not viewed as a regular FA...I even think when they are on waivers and you claim them you are taking over their contract. Now if they make if through waivers then they are a 100% free agent and you can work out whatever deal you want with them. This has always been my understanding of it for a while now from what I've read on how it works.

This is great news. The kid is too talented to completely let go.

What he did was incredibly stupid... but it sounded like it was all because he was scared. He knew with the position he was in he was in huge trouble. That doesn't make it ok, but it doesn't make him a horrible person. I read from one of the Steelers writers (forget who it was) that if he had to pick who on the team was least likely to get in legal trouble, Troy would be his #1 pick, and Ta'Amu would be #2. He said that when he met Ta'Amu he was extremely humble and seemed like an all around good guy.

He'll have to deal with the consequences of his actions, and hopefully becomes a better man because of it.

I don't like what he did either but he's a kid who was under the influence that made a series of really dumb choices. I'm glad we got him back, I hate losing a draft pick like that, they are just to valuable and I think he can be really good.

I still say it's gonna be a LONG time, if EVER, before we see him on the field. I just think he is in way too much hot water. I don't see them letting him out of this because he actually tried to hurt a cop. That'll get you time for sure. I wonder if the lady that got injured has sued the Steelers or not? I'm sure some lawyer has been in her ear and told her some obscure way that he could find the Steelers liable for this and get her a big pay day.

They already dropped those charges, the list has been down graded, still a lot left on it but the more serious ones like this have been dropped.

I didn't know that. But he still faces felony charges though right? I mean multiple felonies.

I believe so, still has several aggravated assault charges but I don't think he is going to serve nearly as much time as people think he will. He injured one person when he hit her car and the rest is DUI, fleeing police, resisting arrest and basically reckless driving.

they did it because part of his salary is guarenteed. so a team could pick him up and have to pay his salary even if convicted and sent to jail. they figured most teams would not take that chance.[IMG]
