What about Jerrod Johnson? I thought he looked pretty good in pre-season.

Dixon has never played under Haley so he knows nothing about his system.

I never said anyone should bet on the game.

I'm still curious as to why you think they should even play it. I still refuse to believe that the 53 active players on Sunday cannot compete with the Ravens 53. Agree to disagree on this one, but I have to say that I'm glad that the coaches, players and FO of the Pittsburgh Steelers believe that the team they put on the field on Sunday can compete with any other team in the league.

Show of hands. How many of us think that the Steelers should be drafting Ben's replacement in April 2013?

I won't go that far. :) The Steelers don't win too many very easily. I just think they can compete, and can win. This team is taking on the charism of the team that went to SB against the Packers. They are starting to see adversity as a challenge - and working to live up to the challenge.

None of this means I think they WILL or WON'T win on Sunday night. I just think that they CAN and MAY win. In the past, Leftwich has shown that he can be effective with a full week's practice. So, I say - let's send them out on the field with a good, solid game plan and see if we can put a hurtin' on the Ratbirds.

I disagree, Ben still has 5-7 years maybe more, maybe less. But I think it is safe to say that he'll be playing until his mid thirties. Our next franchise QB will have likely be taken in the first round. So long as Ben is here, let's not throw that pick away. Use it to help the team get to the Superbowl. Once Ben is retired, then draft a first rounder. Now a days, QB's play their first or second year. The good ones get better, the not so good ones become insurance salesmen.

I thought the Steelers should have considered it this past draft with Brock Osweiler. But he went a little high, and it's maybe a bit premature to think that way.

The guy I'd love to see fall in to their lap: Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel. He'll likely come out early for the 2015 draft.

Ben is just hitting his prime. it would be a wasted high draft pick to go with a qb any time in the next 3 drafts. Ben still has 5 to 7 years of very high level football in him. in 3 or 4 years they should look for a guy to start grooming, but right now all they need is a good backup. Lefty and Batch are both good enough to win a few games, but neither can lead them to a super bowl win or even get very deep in the playoffs.

Lot of people still in love with the Rats and fail to see how many games they have struggled in this year. If we were fans of that team we would not be happy with their play. Yeah I know, they just hung 55 on a team we lost to but go look at their schedule, they have had to fight tooth and nail against several inferior opponents. They have big injuries on their side too. Give Lefty a week of practice and he will be more then capable leading this team to a victory. Our defense is starting to play pretty good ball, I think they can keep us in this game.

Im going to get destroyed for this but i have my reasons. we dont need his replacement yet but we do need a good solid young back up. Its a long shot but i really would burn a sixth or seventh round pick on tino sunseri. he doesnt throw the best deep ball but thats not our offense anymore. the thing is hes smart and can adapt. he has had a different offensive coordinator in each of his three startung seasons switching back and forth from a pro style offense and a spread offense. he is a coaches son so he knows the work that is needed to be doneto stay sharp and be ready. also he doesnt the turn the ball over and makes smart decesions with the football. to me he is a career back up and may never pan out but he seems coachable and a hard worker and that goes a long way.

that dude is not an NFL qb. hes barely a college qb. if they are going to waste a late pick on a qb, there will be much better choices than Sunseri.

Man, they way some people act, you'd think Denis Dixon was the 2nd coming of Johnny Unitas. I'm not sure he's the 2nd coming of Tim Tebow.

I don't what advantage the Ravens get for signing Dixon to their practice squad. I don't see what advantage the Steelers would have gotten had they signed him. A 3rd string QB who doesn't know the current playbook.

smart move, the one backup that could help your #1 oppoent, the one backup that almost beat you a couple years ago, don't cost you much to keep him away from the STEELERS,real good move.I know would deny that was the reason they picked him up,but what other reason, did they just loose their backup,or did flacco get hurt?
