I don't understand why so many people are being hard on a rookie?

i believe the frustration is more about him being a rookie and starting when he clearly wasn't up to the challenge. he won the job by default. the default was the only other option was a guy with less pedigree that sucked last year.
its amazing how when you dont invest in a position for a decade or more it will turn to crap. who coulda predicted that ?

It depends. A center that you’d expect to be a 10 year All Pro is easily worth a mid 1st or better. I’m not saying that’s who Linderbaum is, since I haven’t watched extensive film on him yet, but that’s how he’s being talked up by pretty much every draft “expert” out there.

I would bet Money they go with what We have at LT, and Center at least one more year. Not saying they won't draft it, but I don't think they draft either in the 1st round. No matter what I ,or anyone else may want.

I was thinking they would want to play Moore at RT, isn’t that where they drafted him to play? I think they need to give up on the Banner experiment.

I think it’s very appropriate to be hard on the franchise for entering the season with a 3rd round rookie, playing at a different position from where he had most of success in college, as Plan A. The real-world evidence based on tape shows that Green was pretty ineffective as an NFL center this season, and also shows that he was pretty effective as a college guard. Making the leap to suggest that he be tried at guard (where he had his college success) is not being hard on him.

I agree 100%. Our coaches and front office are very slow to say “well.. that didn’t work,” and adjust accordingly. I saw enough out of Moore to think that he can potentially overcome a tough rookie season and develop into a competent NFL left tackle. I don’t feel the same was about Green as a center.

Moore was actually drafted to be the swing tackle initially. The plan was to let him develop as he would have then likely been the teams Left Tackle heading into the 2022 Season. Well.... that plan got expedited and Moore has taken his lumps..... serious lumps.

That said, he has progressed better than I thought he would; doubly so against the likes of Garrett. Granted.... Myles was dealing with a Groin Injury, not something many EDGE players can play through but Moore played his best game of the season. All he needs to continue to work on is his run blocking basics and to get stronger.

Should this happen, Moore can be a quality Left Tackle for the team. Now, given Pittsburghs illustrious history, Offensive Tackle is still not one of the positions within the Franchise that has a Gold Jacket. Not saying Moore will get done (I would love it but seriously doubt it) but should the likes of Cross be there?!?!...... he is a player worth looking into.

Yeah, he didn't take any crap from anyone. If there was a scrum, he was usually in the middle of it, or one of the first to get there. I don't think he was all that gifted, but his mean ass attitude carried him as a player. He's the kind of guy you wanted on your side.

I get your point, and I've been guilty of it, too. The frustration should be directed at the coaching staff for insisting on throwing him to the wolves every week when he was clearly overwhelmed. It appears that it should have been Hassenauer's job from the outset. Hard to say if Tomlin left it up to Klemm, or if Tomlin insisted on him being the starter. I Think Green can be a productive player for the Steelers if he is switched to gurad.

I just don't know how you fix Greens problem of not being able to snap the ball and block at the same time. Once the book got out that he couldn't do both at the same time they just had the NT get in his face and bull rush him immediately and Green was being driven back faster than some guys can run backwards. The time it would take Green to go from snapper to blocker he would be 4 yards deep in the backfield.

That is why I like the idea of moving him to guard next year.

The coaching staff did Green no favors this year. He wasn't ready to play and he got thrown in there as a day one plug and play starter. That was never going to be who he was. I expect Green to get a lot better in year 2. Will he be a starter quality player? who knows. But I would be shocked if he wasnt a lot better than he was this season (whether thats at G or C).
