I understand all that. I'm just saying that's what He's run most of His college career, and now a season in the NFL.

I would look for a LT in the first, agree that center can be had later.

I think Hassenaur is being looked at as the center. Not sure I'm good with that

Hope not. They could also go free agency route, I don’t think centers usually break the bank.

Don't think I said that either. I just don't think Ben is the best talent evaluator in the league. He thought Willie Colon and Kemo were good linemen. He also never said Sean Mahan was a good center or should move to guard either didn't offer N opinion at all on the worst center the Steelers had in 30 years.

Yeah Mahan was terrible. Disagree about Colon though he was solid. Kemo was just too damn big and Arians kept running the same three run plays. Had Kemo pulling over and over. Just a behemoth of a man. Just checked and he was listed at 344.

I think he has a pretty decent perspective on who is letting him get hit. Prolly doesn’t take much film study to figure out

PFF rated Willie Colon the best RT in the NFL in 2009-10. I'm not saying PFF is a great source but I don't think they're so far off that who they think is the best is terrible. Injuries ruined Colon's career.

Dan Moore Jr. allowed 10 sacks. So that was a big one. Steelers fans seem to love Moore though. I think Moore can improve a lot but he did not have a great rookie season he was just stuck in the lineup in a panic. Neither Green nor Moore should have been starting this year but oh well. I don't think that hurts their development it just hurt Ben XD.

Also I read a few weeks ago that Turner had allowed 6 sacks and had 6 penalties. Don't know what those numbers are now but that's a lot for an interior lineman.

I mean... Ben's just trying to help Green. He consoled him for being benched more than once. Some people will make a big deal out of it in media I think but fans know what Ben is doing I'm sure.

I think Moore was a lot like Banner. Not comparing the skills just comparable fan response. Banner with his tackle eligible fame got some crazyfan support. Moore has a chip on his shoulder was aggressive and even fought his own teammates that will get fans on your side quick.

Kemo pancakes a Bengals safety once when he was pulling. He kinda did the stare down on the guy afterwards and fans were going crazy about how good a hit it was and how he destroyed him. I was like that's a 300+ pound lineman running over a 5'10" probably 200 pound safety I should hope he pancakes him also even when you do that the play wasn't over follow your running back.

Colon wasn't bad, wasn't great either. If I'm assembling an elite OL from all eras I don't think Colon makes my list.

That is true and I acknowledged that Ben knows what he wants and likes but if I'm developing guys and choosing guys I'm not saying Ben who should we get.

I agree that Moore has a great attitude and I think he will develop into a decent starter. He really takes pride in his job.

I would still give Moore another look unless Charles Cross is available. He is widely reputed to be a top 10 pick and I would not mind having him. That said, me and you both know Pittsburgh has shown a history of patience with their draftees; sometimes for better and sometimes for worse.

However, should Linderbaum be on the board, I would SPRINT to that podium!!

    Agreed.

Tomlin, somehow and someway, talked himself into believing that Kendrick Green was ready. I also brought in this notion... should he be able to beat out JC for the spot. He did!!.... but with a catch. He only did so as Kendrick Green offers more athleticism and motor at the next position but not much else. All season... he has been getting...... abused to say the least. To say his start to his career is a disaster is selling said term short. That said, it is worth noting that Green does have some bright spots going for him. However... there is just too many aspects to fix with him.

I would like to see him get another crack at the spot with a coach like Chris Morgan at the helm though. At the very least, he does bring NFL Level Experience... something Adrian Klemm clearly did not have. However, even with Chris Morgan... or whomever else the Offensive Line Coach could be, upgrades at the Interior Spot are a top priority.

A good chef can only do so much with so little. Give him something of high quality to work with and watch the results from there.

exactly . the best center in the league makes as much as an average tackle. thats why tackles fly off the board so quick and centers dont. it just makes more financial sense to draft a tackle before a center if the opportunity arises and go after a good center in free agency.

the problem with PFF is they do not know the blocking assignments on any given play. they see a guy make a late attempt at a block and fail and ding him for it. they dont take into consideration that someone else was supposed to make that block and blocked in the wrong direction. i believe the miscommunications had a lot to do with how bad they were this year and it is not surprising from a new young unit. what is surprising is they never worked the bugs outs over the season. bad coaching ?

I think the OL looks better now than it did in the start of the season. What a tough job to take 2 rookies at the most important parts of the OL and a 1 year FA RG and try to have a cohesive and functional OL.

Regarding PFF I don't trust them much. Certain statistics they compile are going to be more objective than others. Like time to throw should be fairly accurate but QB pressures is more subjective.

I just don't expect that an average OL would be ranked 1st. You can see them get blown off the ball or beaten on a sack usually. I think Colon was very good for a very brief time like two seasons. He just wasn't available. He was powerful and played with an edge though.

He is much better suited at Guard his best game is combo blocks or pulling and blocking in space ..In todays game the Center doesn't get to do that ..I always thought Pouncey would have been much better as a Guard and had a longer career.. 2 great pulling/lead blockers at Guard just makes sense to open up the run game playbook,I am not sure why our staff can't see that ...

Or Ben knows he has time if in the gun,but more play under Center shows the importance of having a player at Center based on power with the ability to absorb the initial push and jab the bull rush with the off hand opposite the snap .. A emordextris type would be ideal snap with 1 hand , but the strong side is really the other .. Very hard to snap and get your power back up in time from that same side IMO..
