I just rewatched the 2010 playoff game against the Ravens. Wallace, Ward, Randle El, Brown, Sanders with Heath at TE. Wow

For me, Claypool, Juju and Johnson with a competent OC and a Qb who can get the ball downfield, could be outstanding. Add Friermuth, even better.

Your thoughts seem sound on this topic to me. Juju wont be "cheap", but I think we can get a reasonable deal done with him. I would really like to if we could, we missed him this season big time. Ray Ray is a fine depth guy who returns kicks. Claypool will stick around due to being on his rookie deal, but he needs to step it up if he wants to get a second contract somewhere. We likely sign or mid round draft another WR to cover the 5th spot vacated by Washington. IF we dont sign JuJu, we might be looking at a FA or even a top 2 round draft pick at WR (obviously also depending on where we spend our money in FA).

Their issues are different though. DJ got open and in position to make plays, but had concentration drops catch up with him due to him trying to hard to break out instead of just letting it happen. Claypool's issues are body control issues (why is he always falling?), an inability to get open due to poor route running and major stiffness in his hips, and poor catch mechanics that are causing dropped balls (why does he insist on "clapping" his hands on the ball to catch it?). These are glaring issues and are much tougher to fix than just concentration drops. He will have to work really hard to overcome these things in order to become a serviceable NFL receiver.

I hope you're right and he comes back just fine. I am not as optimistic as you.

The title of this thread is completely wrong. Our WR's go backwards.

I would agree, but Claypool Has problems with Short endzone passes that all He has 2 do is jump straight up 2 catch ....yet falls sideways, forward, or backwards everytime. The Man has trouble adjusting 2 the ball, and maintaining His balance. Period. Maybe He needs glasses. It funny DJ doesn't have the same problem. No Ben is not what He was(not even close) , but Claypools problems have been there anyway. Hell I seen Claypool on a slant earlier this year ....have His man beat... ball was out in front of him....right in the hands, and He left His feet jumped.....of course He got hit because He stopped running 2 jump, and dropped the ball. I watched that play 12 times trying 2 figure what the Hell He was doing.

Exactly even in his prime Ben has never been a great deep thrower he lacks that drop it in a bucket skill that the guys who do it best have ... Ben also lacks pinpoint accuracy he forces guys to make tough grabs that don't allow them to use their true speed or power after the catch...Ben also lacks touch for screens and swing passes he is a very hard QB to call plays for I am sure...

DJ is well on his way and needs to stay the course

Claypool needs serious work with his route running and running through the route, not to mention his concentration and maturity issues

Ben never established a rapport with Washington.... We saw what Washington was capable of when Ben went down 2 yrs ago... Unfortunately, now that Ben is leaving, the damage is already done and Washington is good as gone as well (good luck in Detroit or Houston)

JuJu is gone (probably across town to Philly)

Ray Ray will stick for one more yr and be gone in 2023

DJ- Give him an extension, work out a new deal. I feel he's only going to get better. He fixed his major drop issues.
They did flare up a little more late season. His durability worries me. I'm afraid how he's gonna hold up to taking major shots.

Claypool- He regressed, and needs to become a professional and stop the stupid stuff. He has the tools and talent, but he needs to go to work. He's not going anywhere he's cheap for 2 more years regardless.

Ray Ray McCloud- They should of just added him to the McDonalds dollar menu because Ben gave him more looks than the $1 Cheeseburger.
Anyway I think he will stick around. His punt returning scares me. He put one on the ground against the Bears, and Steelers nearly lost the game.
He almost fumbled one away again against Cleveland.
But I think he will be here is some form. But I think he's at his skill ceiling, what you see is what you get with Ray Ray.

Washington-He's gone, I wish him luck on his new team. It just never worked it well here for him.

JuJu- I could see him return I could see him not return as well too. I don't think he will have a huge pay day waiting in FA. I lean toward like 70% he will be else where and 30% he may return. Truth be told I think the Steelers only resigned him because of Ben, and now that Ben is gone, good chance he is elsewhere.

Probably need to look at drafting one and also signing a FA this off season.

Claypool needs to go immediately (it can’t happen fast enough). JuJu needs to go also he will only corrupt the next young guy. Send a message to the other players. If it’s all about you. You will be off the team.
