Go from a Super Bowl contender (heck, they could win it this year) to a team that clawed and scratched to finish above .500 who is entering a multi-year rebuild?

It's one of the more odd Steelers-related rumors.

He’d be dumb to ruin his legacy and go anywhere. His next step should be to retire from the team that drafted him.

Close. He's trolling his GM. Imagine being the GM dealing with new QB controversies every month because Rodgers goes on a weekly sports show but won't dispel a single rumor.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I feel that this team with Rodgers would actually be a contender. It's a QB driven league and he is unhappy with the Packers because they do not give him weapons. Our offensive line is our weak point, but if you get Rodgers you can throw draft picks or sign some FAs to improve. If Juju resigns he has a better receiving corps than Green Bay if Adams is disgruntled and holds out of franchise tag. Najee is a great running back. Defense returning healthy with some minor changes could still be a top 10 unit. I really don't think it's that bad of a situation for him, except he would get more money elsewhere since e probably won't have what he wants.

The Packers can't keep him at the current price that they themselves agreed to

So he has to go spmewhere or he needs to give the Pack back the leverage he took last year.

So if not Pitt... where? Denver was the rumor last year... Is Denver really a better spot?

Most likely, Denver will have a new head coach and staff. Rodgers won’t want to enter into that mess.

Do you mean his legacy with GB or his legacy as a great QB?

Brady cemented his legacy by leaving NE.

A guy at work today who is a Packers fan brought up a very good point, this is all assuming that GB allows him to be done with his contract otherwise it becomes what can teams trade to GB for him. Currently the Steelers have nothing to offer in a trade. The only chip is Minkah and the Packers are cash strapped so spending 11 million on Minkah is a dicey prospect

Why don't you think they want draft picks?

Probably two #1s a 3rd and Mason Rudolph will get you Rodgers.

Assuming they watched the Stafford trade last offseason, and said "Hey we can do that".

The Packers might but the Steelers already have some problems with the number of picks they have next draft to the point of people fretting about the Comp pick formula. Trading picks for Rodgers with his salary would be the ultimate all in move and it had better pay off or you set the team back 3 years at least

Denver, Las Vegas or New Orleans are all realistic destinations if he does leave the Packers. All teams with solid rosters that would be in contention with an MVP level QB

They (Packers) are in a precarious position with the cap and can’t keep their team together regardless of what happens with Rodgers. They are already $40m over and that is without tagging Adams which they may want to do because they have no receiving threat without him. 2021 looks like an all-in season in Green Bay and they may just decide to move on from Rodgers and start to rebuild a new team if the right offer is put to them. Rodgers has a no trade clause so that complicates things a bit in terms of getting a deal agreed.

I’d be very cautious about trading for him even if he wanted to play for the Steelers. I’d be worried about him playing out his deal, he strikes me as a guy that would walk away and retire, especially if things don’t go the way he likes on the field.

Because most of the people with negative opinions about the franchise and the coach are the hometown fans. Some more objective people feel the Steelers aren't actually that far away from being competitive for a Super Bowl.
