Well said, thorn. I took a two year hiatus from the board (well, from commenting anyway) and I'm glad to be back in the mix. I learn a lot from the guys and gals on this board. There's a lot of football knowledge and insight represented here, particularly relating to the Steelers, and some of the interactions can be pretty entertaining at times. What I like most about it is that there are fans represented from every era of the Steelers, from the pre-Dynasty days to the fans who can't remember Steeler life without Big Ben (boy, I can, the years between Bradshaw to Ben were brutal at times and I hope it's not two decades before we have our next franchise QB...). And I love you too, man, and all of the members of the board (in a Christian sort of way ).

 

I'm pretty sure when @TerribleTowelFlying pulls the plug on the site he is going to take a drill to the hard drives to get rid of some of us.

Also it's like 4 degrees with a biting cold wind in northern Minnesota today I'm putting on my layers nor taking them off. I read yesterday that they had to heat the ice at the NHL Winter Classic on Sat. It was so cold they had to heat the ice, that's messed up.

 

I seen him try 2 play a guitar once. Its Very funny. That's all I know about him.

Thanks Thorn. What a great post. I and everyone else on this board appreciates you. It's been 14 years for me on this board and love each and everyone of you even when we disagree it's still the greatest place to come and hang out virtually with my fellow brethren.

It's been a rough year we lost my father in law to cancer but had two more years than we thought we'd have. My eleven year old was caught vaping in middle school in the spring and then proceeded to cut herself over 200 times ending up with a two week stay at a mental health facility for kids under the age of 12. Now she is 12 and constant struggle to maintain her mental health. Shortly after my son had his struggle with mental health and he is getting help. Life is challenging and a lot of work, I share this stuff not gain sympathy but as with the original intent of my post 3 years ago to say how grateful for the community I am. For a few hours each day I can leave all that at the side of the road and talk and argue with fellow fans. Not as active in the game day as I'd like to he but sometimes you have to take a break from things. Still happy to be part of the best community there is. Here we go Steeler Nation.

 

I hope you don't mind but I just said a prayer for your daughter. I have 7 kids and it would be great if they were all perfect but they're not. I have 2 grown daughters that suffer with mental health so I understand what you're going through.

One year an actor won some award and said something like this, everyone who wins thanks Gods, all the people who were there for them, etc. but I'm thanking myself. I'm the one who did it.

 

Riminds me of his favorite saying, "I'm blessed".

 

We are all dying from the day we are born.

 

That's the easy part of the equation. The real enigma is - are we somehow born the day we die? I'd like to think so in some form or another. There's a quote from an old black and white movie where the dying Grandfather tells his young Grandson - "Life is really just a dream. Then you wake up when you die." Pretty heavy stuff but why not?

Not really, there's a huge flock that is Grateful to be Dead.

 

Not sure - the 1935 movie was "The Dog of Flanders". There's another line when the boy and old man find a dog along a roadside that was beaten and the old man bends down to listen to his breathing and says "He's only a little bit dead". These are also fuzzy memories from me watching a movie way back in prehistoric times.

 

I would have to say I haven't seen it, it's just what You said brought that poem to mind
