So a non-losing season is the standard now. Lovely.

Yep and in the 15 years that he coached he is leading the league with 2, actually he is tied with Mcarthy , the only other coach that has more that coached in that timeframe is Marvin Lewis with 3 ....... There have been other coaches in the past before Tomlin with more, but im talking abt the ones that are coaching or coached in Tomlins era

Congrats I guess. I just can’t get my feelings sorted out with Tomlin. One minute I want him fired, the next minute I’m thankful he’s our Coach. I wished he wasn’t so polarizing.

15 seasons, none of them losing. Can he keep it up without Ben?

Lets keep this in perspective, Tomlin has only had Ben as his QB ( I know we had that one season with Mason and Duck ). Props for going 8-8 that year, however, the stat last night that should solidify the greatness that we have just watched is that Ben has never had a losing season in his career. Find me another QB that has done this!! I am not sure that there isnt, I am just too fired up to look...LOL. Tomlin has excelled because he has had a HOF QB 99.75% of his coaching tenure here in PGH. It is that simple...Ben is the reason Tomlin will be in the hall someday.

Brady went 9-7 in 2002. Outside of that, he's always won at least 10 games.

That's not to take away from Ben. Brady and Belichick are two of the greatest and we may never see anything like their run again. It's not fair to compare anyone to them.

Also, the Steelers philosophy is to try to make the playoffs every year and hope they get hot at the right time. The organization does not sell the farm for single years, so non-losing seasons is the execution of the plan.

Excellent, thanks for checking. I will take Ben in the same conversation as Brady any day. Kind of proves the point that Ben has been the primary reason for nearly the past 2 decades of "success".

Congratulations, Coach T. I think Tomlin is a very good (not great) coach. I do think it may be time for a changing of the guard in Pittsburgh but that's not necessarily a knock on Tomlin. That time came for Noll and Cowher and the time may be nearing for Tomlin as well. After a decade and a half, the message kind of grows a little stale and it's time for a new messenger. I won't go into all of the criticisms of Tomlin here (many of them justified), but I'll just say that 15 years without a losing record is an impressive accomplishment. But...if you've watched this team during that stretch you can't help but come away with the feeling that a lot was left on the table for the taking. Lastly, absolutely yes, Tomlin will be inducted into the HOF one day and deservedly so.

The Super Bowl window of seasons 2014-2017 cannot be ignored. Steelers were stacked in those years and had enough offense to overcome the average defense. Tomlin defenders can't ignore that.

In the losses those 4 playoffs, Lev Bell played in one game and Brown played in two. The playoffs often come down to which team is healthiest, and if you build a team around a three down running back who doesn't play, it kind of hurts. But that's okay, we know every team should be able to overcome injuries, except teams that lose to us, where it's a valid excuse.

They said last night Ben has only played in two games in his career when he knew he was out of the playoffs. I assume the same is true of Tomlin. Pretty impressive.

    Let's see:
    2011: 12-4
    2012: 8-8
    2013: 8-8
    2014: 11-5
    2015: 10-6
    2016: 11-5
    2017: 13-3
    2018: 9-6-1
    2019: 8-8
    2020: 12-4

Three 8-8 years (including the Ben-less 2019 season), one 9-6-1 (damn tie) and the rest 10+ wins. Not average to me. Yes - a nice playoff run and Super Bowl title would have been nice too, but I often remind myself that 31 teams do not win the Super Bowl each year, and 28 teams do not play in the Conference Championships each year. It's extremely hard to get to those games, year in and out. As a prior post of mine showed, the Steelers have been one of the most successful teams both in record and playoff success - even in the Tomlin era.

.... and the Steelers still underachieved under Tomlin. HOF QB, All Pro RB, All Pro WR... and good overall O-line from 2014-2017.

Just found that Ben is the only player in NFL history to never play on a team with a losing record in his career....Brady's rookie season the Pats were 5-11

The homer reach is getting a bit much here. Brady took his teams to ten Super Bowls and won seven of them.

Yep... I would've preferred 1 or 2 losing seasons and 2 more Super Bowl wins for Roethlisberger, than no losing seasons and 0 Super Bowl wins since XLIII.

Shazier was the only playmaker on defense during that time.

Some of you fans are delusional, with this roster if they win 9 games they probably overachieved, before the season I thought 10 wins was possible. No contributions from Banner, JuJu, Alalu, Tuitt, four rookies starting on offense, using 34 different players on defense 5 different guys at LG.

Lol. Yeah. Lower your expectations and be happy. I guess.

And by his logic, all those years we were picked to be SB contenders and got bounced by garbage teams early in the playoffs, we should have fired him immediately, right? Expectations and all that. If we're 7 point favorites and lose, 50 lashes with a wet noodle?

Yes. The streak is unprecedented. But it feels hollow with 3 (and possibly a 4th) .500 seasons, and little post season success since 2010. That's all we're saying. Don't act like the streak makes him the best coach ever. He's not even the best Steeler coach ever. (But who knows? Maybe some day he will be. Not yet though)
