2 punts, long of 63. Average of 60.5 yards. Excellent performance. We should consider starting him at punter going forward.

Sample size? I'm all for Waitman being the punter. I don't really care. I think it's wild to fixate on ST when the O and D are so bad.

This team can use improvements all over the board. We know we're not getting a new coach so have to make incremental improvements where we can take them.

That’s like saying I need tires on my car, but I have a chance to fix that dent but I’m not because I need tires.

Exactly. This guy gets it. Who worries about dents when you have no wheels?

... but the coach makes those calls. And Harvin III will be back next week because he just realized he could lose his job and also the Steelers spent a 6th to get him.

Rarely have I seen Tomlin straight up put the best player on the field whether that's Boykin behind Blake, Claypool behind McCloud, Heyward behind Hood, Harrison behind Jarvis, Starks behind Scott etc.

There is always more than just who is the best player in Tomlin's personnel decisions as best I can tell. Bush is another example.

So you're saying we wouldn't try to get a better center because we need a new QB? Should we not look at a new OC because we need a new HC?

Right, why make a guy a starter that averages 60 yrd punts or so, when you can have a guy that averages 30-40 yrds ?

I didn’t say no wheels and I’m disagreeing with you in case you couldn’t tell. I’m say just because you have several problems doesn’t mean you ignore the smaller ones until the bigger one is fixed. If you have a chance to improve you do it.

Fist let’s get this out of the way. You’re a troll and honestly getting sick of your trolling of Steelers fans here.

secondly that’s not what I said at all.

I'm shocked to say this, but Glenn actually gets it and I 100% agree with him. There's no rule that says you can only improve one facet of the team at a time.

There are about 100 holes in this ship and you plug them wherever you can.

Trying to get an edge in the punting game is how we got Harvin III in the first place. Tomlin/Colbert keep drafting LB sized P for some reason.

The Rams and Buccaneers are worse at punting- how are they winning their divisions.

Harvin III is a rookie. He will get better. Maybe with a different team I don't know.

I wasn't responding to you Glenn. I was responding to FosterMorris. For once we are actually in agreement.

Using "wheels" colloquially. If you don't have tires you can't drive so you've got no wheels.

Of course I don't care about a dent.

Actually, I believe it was waitman 2 or 3 seasons ago that out kicked berry in preseason, but Tomlin cut him anyway

This is my car. We have wheels. We have tires. It’s just time to replace the tires. They still hold air, but they don’t have much life left. Again if you have a chance to improve an aspect of the team you don’t forego it just cause you have other larger problems.
That’s like saying the police shouldn’t go after anymore burglars until all murderers are caught.

It's been awhile since I've seen contacting the back of the long snapper wasn't a penalty because it was a block as Steratorre said

Not really because "broken windows" policing is the most effective as measured by crime reduction. A burglar is more likely to commit a murder than a lawful citizen so if he's incarcerated he can only kill other convicts or cops.

Exactly. This guy gets it. I was trying to waste your time. You said I need to do research because I joked that Bell would be disappointed Helaire-Smith wasn't hurt last season. Yes, I realize Bell is on TB which was the point. No apology? Come on, bruh. :hehehe:

Punters. I was saying how even though TB and LAR are 11-5 with worse punters than us that punting is the key to success. It is clear after 14 games that our rookie punter who won the Ray Guy Award will never improve. Just because Harvin's net is higher than All-Pro Andy Lee's rookie season means nothing- players just don't improve with experience that's not a thing.

I am joining you in ignoring the poor coaching, OL, QB play and defense in that order to join you in focusing on the 2 and a half yards lost every punt by not substituting Harvin for another punter because everyone knows rookies don't improve.

Based on the two punts today this new punter is a lock for the HOF.

You've cracked the case wide open.
