I do not think the offensive line can get any worse. The OC calls the worst short yardage plays I have ever seen in any level of football. The defense cant stop the run or the pass. The d line is fragile and hurt always, the Linebackers should be out of the league like now and fired immediately. The corners suck. We have above average WRS which one of them is an idiot and cost us chance at end of game and wasted 2 series with a personal foul and lack of block on a third down play. We have a good elite FS , NT, and edge rusher. Sounds like another 6 win team to me.

We will likely be sub-500 if Ben is gone. Win 4-5 games I think.

I expect a losing season but if they have a good draft class and some good free agent signings they may surprise us.

Very difficult to say without knowing who the QB will be.

Impossible to say how good or bad they may be with so many moves to be made before the start of next season.

Looking at a pretty good draft pick for 2022 draft, too low for a QB but could be a very good lineman sitting there when they pick as well as every other position they need to address. I would have to think the line though will be the priority in the first if there are no QB’s available that they like.

If they bring in a vet QB via trade, that will make an immediate impact.

FA signings with the increased salary cap.

There will be a lot of changes to the roster and possibly (hopefully) coaching staff. Things could be much better than they are now.

In the NFL you can have quick turn arounds compared to most professional sports but who knows.

Steelers may be able to bring in some Free Agent help than usually, with cap space. But, they have never been much for a splash signing.

If they could find a few Ryan Clark or James Farrior decent FA signings and less Eric Ebron types that be good

Get back to me after the 2022 NFL Draft for more thoughts. No seriously. 2019, 2020 and 2021 were three of the biggest drafts the Steelers have had since the early 2000s in terms of importance. 2022 will be by far the biggest since 2004 as this is it for Big Ben. That said and, I hate being a broken record but.....

.... if Kenny Pickett truly is the answer some say he is?!...... yikes.

when we sucked in 2003, we had a pretty good team, but no QB. in 2021, we have a pretty good QB, but lousy team. a lot of holes to fill.. i don't foresee a quick turnaround like we did back then.

It depends if they can find another HOF QB in hurry although not what he once was Ben masks a lot of the team’s problems. For example pathetic coaching , horrible play calling , pathetic defensive line , subpar offensive line which has gotten worse, cornerbacks who suck except for a few, selfish players who care about only themselves , oh and a new punter !

I know Kirk Cousins is someone that is always mentioned as a possible replacement for Ben but from what I saw last night I say no thanks. He had no pressure on him at all last night and still was missing wide open receivers. He threw 2 bad interceptions that almost blew the game after a 29 point lead. Ben had no offensive line to protect him and he still outplayed Cousins by a lot.

It is kinds scary, but have we really seen improvement in the offensive line at all?

What is there to be excited about next year with these guys?

I think our run blocking is still going to be bad.

    Hey Ytownsteeler.

I do not believe that we have ever chatted before, so “Hello”. Trust me when I say that I am not trying to “take-over” your thread here. Really, not at all. However, if you have time, as well as everyone here, please read my rather extensive Thread/Post (Link Below) as to this year’s inadequacies and how they are currently plaguing our performance NOW and possibly setting us up for more of the same next year. You and I are on the same page for some of your thoughts here as I go a bit beyond what you have posted and add a little more detail.

    Take care.

Doesn't matter who's on the bus. If the driver is the same, so is the destination. I've said this for a long time and sticking with it till proven wrong. JMO>

Depends on how we finish this year. The better we finish this year the worse we'll be next year. My reasoning is that if we are close to .500, Rooneys will be pleased and give some enabling BS story of how we did as well as we did with injuries, blah blah, blah, and therefore will not be as motivated to make the changes that really need to be made if we were to end up well below .500. Either way, Rooneys won't do squat, regime will still be in place until contract is expired (at a minimum), and we'll get what we had to end this year (with or without Ben). Then the fans who think being .500 is good enough can be please while fist pumping the air wearing an extremely faded shirt that has 6 Lombardi's on it that could be older than they are. JMO>

Agree, been saying this for years now, BEN has carried Tomlin and the team for years. We will all see this when Ben retires and until we get another franchise QB.

Too many variables right now but they dragged out the rebuild an extra year by being dumb this last off season. I'd focus on building the trenches and getting a true #1 CB. I'd go with some sort of refurb QB, like Trubisky or Fitzmagic, for a year and get the franchise guy in 23. Of course, the Steelers will very likely draft one this year. Obviously, other areas (ILB, SS, Offensive depth) are still a mess and get worked on, too.
