If you need 3 scores and 1 two point conversion. You go for 2 on the first score. If you get it… 15-29. You now need 14 points. If you don’t get it then it’s 13-29 and you know you need two 2 point conversions. You basically get an extra chance at it.

When you now need 2 scores and 1 two point. You go for it on the last score. You make it a one possession game and put pressure on them. If you don’t get it, they know it’s a 2 possession game. Like what happened and can go deep on 2nd and 2 and end the game.

This was so low IQ. I’m sure Tomlin will say something about feel of the game and momentum blah blah blah. STUPID!

In the end I was right. Tomlin went for 2 at worst possible time. If we go for it on 2nd score and get it. Then only need extra point on 3rd. One possession game and no way Vikings throw that bomb on 2nd and 2.

In the end we need two scores and two extra points. Like going for two on 2nd score and not getting it. Same outcome but no benefits of going for it and getting it.

Also, wasted a lot of valuable time with Vikings having benefit of 9 point game and scoring again.

    Tomlins terrible decisions strike again.

You never go for 2 until you absolutely have to.

Bad call by Tomlin. But your strategy is even worse

Yea that was insane going for 2 there when you should have made it 29-21 then gone for 2. Made no damn sense at all but again what does Tomlin do that does make sense.

Strategy of getting a free chance? If you know you need 16 points. You go for it on first score. Then it’s 14. If you don’t get it then you know you need 16. Then end up going for it on 2nd score which Tomlin ended up doing anyway with no benefits of going for it on the first.

If you need 9 then you take the 1 and make it one possession. Tomlin did the stupidest thing you could do. Take the 1 then go for 2 down 9.

Yep…that cost them the game…when you lose by 8 that 2 point fail cost them the game.

    1+1 = 8

The biggest reason not to go for 2 early is because if you don't get it, you end up chasing points that you might not have even needed.

If we're down 15, take the 7 points. Now we're down 8. With lots of time left, anything can happen. Perhaps Minny scores again but misses the extra point. Now we're down 14 because we kicked the extra point.

If we had went for it and not got it, we'd be down 15 in the above example, all because we missed the 2 points. Now we're chasing points when we didn't need to. Once the coach gets chasing points, if he misses, he has to keep chasing.

That's why you wait to go for 2 until it's absolutely needed. If it's needed, it will still be needed later. There's no reason to go for it early.

For goodness sakes they lost that game in the first qtr. Chasing point strategies had nothing to do with the final outcome.

I'm not against going for two in that situation. I just didn't like the playcall. Getting slashed and gashed by Cook in the first half is why we lost. Steelers made it entertaining in the second half, but came up short. Tough loss. Claypool is his own worst enemy. Green is really struggling out there, just unfortunately there's nobody to replace him atm, unless we go outside the org.

Yes, it's more about the strategy as a whole rather than how it affected this specific game.

I've given up on all but the Mike watch. Can Tomlin keep his never had a losing season streak going????
Meaningless, I know, but I'm rooting for him only because I want Steeler wins.

Regardless what happens he will be around next season and whoever our QB is he will have growing pains so I'm guessing another under .500 season in 2022 then we say goodbye to Tomlin.

Dalvin Cook running like a mad man won this game.

I haven't seen a performance like that by one guy against the Steelers running the ball since the late 90's and Fred Taylor was with the Jags and he ran all over us for 200+ yards.

With the holes he had to run through I think I could of ran for 100+ yards, and I'm 36 never played in the NFL and I am white.

Very sad state of affairs with the run defense.
