There's only one QB that can start in the draft. And that's picket. The rest are project QB. Meaning they need to sit on the bench. The next two are second round caliber. And then it drops into the third.

Yes, idiot teams will draft 3 QB in the first round. But they'll get laughed if they start them.

    - Picket will be gone in the top 3. Which means we would have to give up more than what we would for Rodgers/Wilson.
    - Rodgers/Wilson we give up picks but we still have enough left over for signing an O-line.
    - Marriotta/cousins/turbisky we can work with and build an outstanding O-line and a WR. Which can easily be done with having our draft picks, and having 45 million.

Idk it seems like Heisman winners get drafted late as weird as that seems. Almost like winning the president's trophy in hockey spelling doom in the playoffs.

I'm a Pickett fan too but I think you're way overvaluing. I don't see him being gone in the top 3 and whether he's a starter in this league is a crapshoot like most QB's. Don't forget Mason Rudolph looked amazing in college too.

This topic was the discussion on 93.7 the fan this morning. The panel's final conclusion is that the Steelers will go with Rudolph next year and if he falters give Haskins a shot. Then after a losing season see what's available in the 2023 draft.
I don't like this idea of throwing a season away. I would much rather go with a stop gap veteran like Derek Carr or someone like that and try and be competitive.

I just heard Ron Cook say that Pickett is probably going to skip out on the Michigan State game. He was undecided on whether he was going to play or not but with Mark Whipple leaving for Nebraska it looks more likely that Pickett will skip the Peach Bowl.

I agree with Hanratty, I think if Ben retires.... they stick with Rudolph (or Haskins) and use the draft / free agency to improve other areas..... we just have too many holes to fill to use a 1st on a QB..... that's Cleveland's profile, not ours.

I have a feeling we'll finish up around a draft pick of #20..... so I don't see the only top tier QB falling 20 spots into our laps either.

I don't see Pickett going top 3, guys like Thibodeaux and some OL will go before him.

Hell you never know with Qbs. I thought Baker would go in the bottom of the 1st, or early 2nd, and He was I believe 1st overall. So...

I think he'll go top 10 possibly but not top 3.

I could live with cousin's as well. I was a bit of a defender of him when he went to the Vikings but like you said something has been off with him. Probably the offensive scheme it like he's never comfortable or plays scared.

Word on the street is that the Steelers aren't even interested in Pickett, they value Sam Howell more.

This team has too many holes to reach for a QB rd 1. I see them brining in a guy like Marriota to compete with Mason. They could take a QB later on but it will probably be nothing more than a project

I get on the bandwagon and now see Pickett may not play in the Peach Bowl. Should he opt out and IMO screw his teammates I'll root against him his whole career.

Funny, Rodgers has voiced his displeasure because GB didn't put people around him to be even more successful. So tell me, how do you approach Rodgers and ask if he'd like to play behind one of the worst OLs in the league? If by a miracle he actually did come to us, then all that crap about GB he was spouting off was just a bunch of BS. Rodgers is no spring chicken that we can get him in and then start to build an OL which could take years. He's too expensive and we'd have to give away a ton of draft capital which would kill the building up around right from the get-go. None of this makes sense. JMO>

That sucks if Pickett doesn’t play. Makes the season very anticlimactic.

I can see the argument that if he gets hurt in the game then he could be out millions of dollars but to me the shame you would feel when you saw a former teammate out somewhere wouldn't be worth all the money in the world.

Here is more word on the street from ESPN'S Jeremy Fowler. He said that the Falcons are going to release Matt Ryan at the end of the season and he predicts that the Steelers sign Ryan. Fowler said that Ryan is a "slight" upgrade over Ben and will keep the Steelers competitive. He said that the Steelers don't like to rebuild and signing Ryan won't break the bank like Rodgers or Wilson.

That was the response of the afternoon hosts on 93.7 the fan today. They said you might as well just go with Rudolph rather than sign Ryan.

Personally once Ben leaves, team needs a re-haul. Time to really look at who is upcoming, who is a bust, who is a must stay and who is long in the tooth. I don’t think the future QB is in this draft or on the Team, I think we need a FA until we can move up in the draft and get our future Star.
