You can bring back one Steeler player, who is it?

You get to pick any Steeler player of all time and add him to our team while he's in his prime. Doesn't need to be the best player or the guy with the most impact. Doesn't need to be about wins or losses. Can be any criteria you want. So who are you picking and why?

For me, it's Troy easily. Probably not going to help us win as many games as a QB in his prime would. Won't shut down offences like Blount, Lambert or Joe Greene would, but man, is there a more exciting player to watch in Steelers history than Troy? He was just so much fun to watch. The crazy fingertip INT's he had, the flying tackles, jumping the pile to sack a QB doing a QB sneak, etc. I don't know if there's a more exciting player in league history. So given the choice I'll take another 15 years of Troy over anyone else.

Couple of my favourite Troy clips

Joe Greene he's the best player in Steelers history and its not debatable.

You know how good Aaron Donald is, Joe Greene was even better, and sadly he played the last 5 years of his career with very little feeling in his one arm from an injury.

No dis on Troy P, he's the best player to me in my lifetime and was amazing to watch. But Joe Greene may be the best defensive lineman to ever play in the NFL history.

    Joe Greene changed the culture.

I know you only asked for one but it's hard with so many greats in the teams history. I've always argued if you could make a allstar team from all the players in a organizations history and played a season the steelers would dominate. Not even because their my team but it's just obvious to me our defense would lock down any offense. That being said I would go with Joe Greene on defense because of the proven foundation he set with the greatest dynasty of alltime. Blount because they had to change rules he was so good or troy because he's the most versatile player I've ever seen would be right behind Greene. On offense I would take a prime big Ben. Sorry long for the winded answer to your question.

Yes I did, which is why I made this thread. My thread isn't about fixing the team. Has nothing to do with wins and losses. It's simply to pick a player for any subjective reason. Although Troy is one of the greats of all time, I didn't pick him because of that. I picked him because of how entertaining he was. He's the most fun exciting player I've ever seen play.

Mike Webster still remains my choice. Troy is a shoe in for me but I elected to go a different route. I firmly still believe that, without Webster, some of those Super Bowls may have had different outcomes.

With a younger Ben OK but I think Ward would be pissed with this offense. He'd really be pissed with Mason at QB.

Anyone of the QB's we make fun of because I've given up on Mason being a good back-up.

In terms of need and current rules? James Farrior. The guy was so underrated. Probably the greatest free agent the Steelers ever signed.

Joe Greene, no doubt. He projected his will to win to the entire defense. He made everyone around him better and he helped forge the working-class hero mentality of the franchise. The toughness, the intimidation all funneled from him outward. He is the greatest Steeler of all time in my opinion.

I would like to change my answer to John Henry Johnson. We don't really need him but he was my very first Steeler player I heard about.

Here is one for you James Conner. Yeah I said it... JAMES CONNER.

He has almost as many TD's as Ben does this year.

That is where all our scoring went.

Because McCoy and Murray do all the dirty work and get Connor to the goal line.

Don't get me wrong. I think very highly of James Connor. But if any average RB won the damn lottery by going to a stacked team.... It's James Connor.

    Please.
