Bad news: He's still not going to play this season for some reason.

One thing that won't happen by Sunday is the return of Stephon Tuitt. On injured reserve all season with a knee injury, sources say Tuitt is recovered to the point where he could return to play. But Tuitt also is still dealing emotionally with the loss of his brother in July in a hit-and-run accident. And time is becoming a factor.

Not to be mean but, He shouldn't get paid then...I lost my Mom and Dad...I got 3 days off of work, Then had to put my big boy pants on,and get back or, basically lose my job...

He can stay off,but he shouldn't have both...He shouldn't be paid after this long...If you can't handle that, you should retire, sorry...

I mean... You're making 11 million dollars a year...You shouldn't be able to collect that, and NOT play...

    JMO

Perhaps you need a better job. One with a boss that actually gives two ****s about you. Enjoy your gold watch? Or is it a 12 month subscription to the jelly of the month club? Whichever it is enjoy

Mental health is as important as physical health. Not everyone responds to mental health the same. I've personally been in the psychward 6 times. Tuitt should get paid the same as someone that misses due to injury.

So what if he decides he is mentally unwell for the remainder of his contract? Should he keep getting the paychecks if he is physically 100% but mentally not and decides to sit out the rest of his career?

In that case, he should get with his doctors and retire from the game.

I'm guessing they cut him some slack this season. It looks good on the organization when you're competing for FAs. But if he can't go next year they really don't have much choice but to release him.

I think it is perfectly okay if he isn't mentally into it this year, but I just don't like being strung along.

If he ain't coming back this year, the Steelers need to close the door on it ... say we'll see him next year and plan accordingly.

Don't keep on saying "maybe" 11 weeks into the season. At this point you either know or you don't.

There is no shame in that.

Again...Sorry if I came across as Callous but,A professional Athlete gets afforded many perks...I just don't agree ( especially at 11 million ) that a Pittsburgh Steeler player, or any player should be afforded a " blank check " for mourning...When the average Joe gets 3-5 days... People on this board, or even " regular " human beings...Have the same sense of loss, as a 6'5" #310 pound Athlete...Again JMO

I remember those 5 seconds we had tuitt and the whole defense healthy. I think with gravedigger? They essentially were collapsing the pockets in 1-3 seconds it was crazy.

then tuitt started dangling his arm and we were like “oh there he is “

There's no sense having him back in if he's mentally not ready to play. He'd be useless.

    See exhibit A: #55

Death is a part of life , people need to realize it, accept it and move on, both of my parents were dead before i was 15, this past year alone i have lost multiple friends, and a ex-wife to death.. there is nothing anyone can do abt it besides accept and move on.. If a person cant wrk because of emotinal problems, and it isnt wrk related. he/they shoudnt be getting paid..

there is absolutely no reason for the Steelers to say anything. He’s on injured reserve. If he comes back this year awesome. If he doesn’t that’s cool too. I wish him the best of luck and hope to see him at full strength next year.

tough talk from behind a keyboard. Why don’t you go look him in the eyes and tell him how he should be handling the situation? Please let someone record it and upload to YouTube. It will go viral. You’ll be a star!

Oh I do. I’m gainfully employed and love my job. I enjoy going to work. I’ve had bosses like that in the past and said goodbye. Life is too short and too precious to deal with that crap.
