A better analogy would be if a tree falls and 9 out of 11 guys know their job and do it in getting the tree to fall how many are killed by the two that dont?

I had someone in the Bush thread tell me if the 1st rd draft pick at ILB is sitting back and tracking the ball carrier its a mistake. They should be attacking the gap. Well yesterday Bush attacked the gap all right, he attacked it, let the lineman gets his hands on him and start turning him. Bush the proceeded to try stopping Mixon as he ran into the hole Bush created with one arm while being blocked. In order for the defense to work everyone from TJ to Bush the Peirre has to know their role and what it does. The D line and playside backer set the edge and string the play out horizontally. Inside guys and safeties track the back and clean up the play. If there are two gaps created, one cut back and one playside between center and guard Bush should position himself to meet the back in the playside while schobert gets him on the cut back. If Bush guesses and rushes toward the wrong spot it blows the teamwork to he'll and back.

The only time Bush should be attacking the gap is when he can Blast through it to make the tackle as the ball is handed off. Right now he just hurries up to get blocked.

At which point should we replace Bush with Spillane who is arguably a better run stopper?

Could have had Fletcher Cox for a 3rd. Who knows if Alualu is coming back although signed for 2022. And don't tell me he is done the guy is a beast. He would have helped for sure.

Playing Heyward at nose was just dumb against the bengals

They pulled Bust yesterday and put in Spillane. He got a knee injury  Buddy Johnson should see some snaps

look at the splits with alualu and without. Then add in the lack of tuitt. No defensive line means your linebackers are getting mauled by offensive lineman at the second level. It all begins up front. We have 3/5ths of a defensive line. But fire tomlin fire butler fire fire fire
can’t see the forest from the trees

Guess you liked that adjustment? So Bush's horrible play is because of the D Line? And how's that secondary doing?

The ship is sinking. Tomlin won't be fired but it's time for a change as far as Butler is concerned. Canada could be as well. Tomlin will save his face and someone will fall on the sword if not more.

Did I say anything about Bush? I will though. Be more than willing since you brought him up. Bush is clearly having issues mentally. He doesn’t trust his knee. It shows in his play. That sideline to sideline play speed is missing. Hopefully, he can return to form. Most modern day athletes can. With that being said yes linebackers getting mauled by offensive linemen at the second level affects their play. All of them, not just bush.

sorry you can’t seem to grasp the concept, but it all starts up front. On both sides of the ball. If your defensive line is in shambles(like ours) it affects both the linebackers and secondary. This isn’t some novel idea. Any coach worth their weight in salt will tell you the exact same thing. Look at the splits with alualu and without. While you’re at it look at the splits from last year with bush pre and post injury.

Would be nice if that middle linebacker we traded up to get would show up and at least put his hands on someone.

I think any NT would be an improvement over what they have now.

I agree with them not giving up that 3rd for Cox, if they did then they would be without a 3rd and 4th in 2022.

ok I have to do this just for the irony of this situation and not to troll you. but could we say possibly someone like Dontari Poe? :lolol: I am not at all serious but for all of our back and forth on him I just had to say it .

Which boss. Rooney or MT or both? The owner is the one who is allowing this regime to continue. No matter what people say about MT and how he runs this team, if he is still our coach, somebody thinks he is doing just fine. Apparently, the owner doesn't think or have the same priorities as many here do. Pity. JMO>

But we didn't draft the way you say we should if we are grasping the concept that it all starts up front. Or, do you think we didn't need to pick OL/DL in 1 round?

The problem is, he's not engaging them at all. Just standing there and catching them. You have to attack downhill, or try to evade/shed.

He looks like he's not trying. Former players Hoke and Moats are saying the same on local radio.

And hopefully he can return to form. He showed a ton of promise before his injury. It’s a messy situation.

I agree that that the trenches are sub par. But what about the development of said back ups? Again they could have had Cox for a 3rd. When I heard that they were possibly looking to trade I was please pull the trigger. But sadly no. He would have helped immensely.

You can go ahead and give Bush a pass that's your prerogative. To me it's not the knee. It's between the ears. And dag gummit he has to play better.
He was replaced on Sunday by Spillane and then he got a knee injury. If its Bush's the knee then why don't they sit him?

we could have had a 32 year old lineman that wasn’t traded for a 3rd round pick? Where did you get your crystal ball?

Dupree is on ir and won’t play the required number of snaps to net us a 3rd round comp pick. At least that was what was being reported last week
