Fake punts and FG are low percentage plays, they have the best chance of success when they are least expected. I give the Browns credit, they were all over it.

Ben example is apples to steaks.

If we run Bos out to play running back or QB and he gets hurt is that just football or is that a stupid move that put your kicker at risk of injury? This argument that his injury had nothing to do with the coaching decision is ridiculous. Some of you are a few french fries short of a happy meal if you can’t put the connection together that the fake put him at risk of injury. He’s a tiny dude not built for getting leveled by LB’s .

taking a risk is one thing. Taking stupid risks is not what anyone wants. There’s a time and a place for it. I can only think Tomlin thought we had no chance to win the game the traditional way.

and yes it absolutely should have been a penalty which would have given us the ball 1st and goal.

And to the nitwits that think you cant question a decision that nearly cost us the game in a game we won… what do you think message boards are for? I can be happy we won and not happy with a terrible call. Its amazing I know but I have this superman ability to see the world in color. Guess some of you missed my post about this being the best win of the season. A separate topic btw .

I get where his head was at. 3-3 game. Both teams struggling to score. Try to steal 7 then get the ball back at half. I'm not even going to hindsight the Boz injury. I think it was a terrible call given how much time was left. You do that with like under a minute left. It failed and the Browns had 2 minutes to work with.

Because after running the ball down their throats to get to the 10, they let Ben take over the offense.

And still your kicker gets knocked out? Negative. The score was 3-3. You take the points. Why get cute at that time? You go up 6-3 and then its 1:45 before halftime.

Dump decision at that point. Dumb.

Steelers play for Super Bowl wins. Not wins over the Clowns in week whatever.

Funny how Being pressured make You miss easy throw isn't it. I remember 2 Qbs a lot here think is the bees knees Missing a lot of throws in his game ...don't believe Me...go back and watch us play A. Rodgers, and J. Allen.
I'm not saying Baker is good...because I don't believe He is, but No Qb is great under constant pressure...I don't care who they are, and we didn't get that much pressure on A. Rodgers...Yet he missed quite a few easy throws.

I'm not going to bag on the decision as I like it when things like this work. It seems unfair to judge it simply by the result. And on that end it is not on Tomlin that the kicker got killed. That is on the Browns for the cheap shot and the refs for not calling what was clearly a helmet to helmet hit on a passer.

    I don't agree....Because I don't like that kind of Football. You Know I don't hate Tomlin.
I have, and always will think....if You have a chance at 3 , and You aren't down huge in the 4th Quarter...take the easy 3...nothing worse then driving the field, and coming away with nothing...same with 2 point conversions ....unless You have 2 have them ....kick the one....I hate this about today's football....Do You know how many times I watch a team lose because they go for it , and not just kick a field goal every time....a lot, but for some reason it doesn't get brought Up in media....I guess it doesn't fit the ....BOLD coaches outlook they are trying 2 sell....same for 2 points conversions, and once you miss one ....You are constantly chasing points most of the time....Nothing against Tomlin....Hell I stick Up for Him all the time....IMO it's a Bad call....I'm just old school :drinks:

He is a kicker. He is not used to protecting himself in that situation and it showed.

Tomlin was also clearly unprepared to lose his kicker. It looked like Harvin hadn't even practiced kicking off.

Plus, that play is much more difficult at that part of the field because everyone is so close.

Well, it was a bad call because it didn’t work and lost our kicker lol. I wasn’t arguing that, I was saying if it worked, it’s not a bad call. I would have taken the points but I didn’t have a problem with it.

And as far as not running a play because of risk of injury :bscow:

That sums up my thoughts about that.

It was a bad call because the odds of it failing were high and the odds of an injury were high enough that it wasn't worth it. Boswell is too damn valuable to be trying that crap.

Are you saying the results of this particular play it was a bad call? I’d agree but again, I’m talking about if it works. As with all calls, brilliant if it works, bad if it doesn’t.

I’ll never agree about the injury stuff. It’s football. Going to worry about that, go home.

I think the injury risk is probably less than you guys think it is on a fake FG. How many guys have gotten hurt performing it?

I’m no mathematician but he probably has a higher risk of injury of a guy running into his leg going for a blocked kick.

The problem with the fake, aside from the late hit, Bos held onto it too damn long.

Cowher would never put his kicker in this type of position to run a trick play

If it worked it's likely your kicker does not get knocked out......and it would be 10-3 at the half.

I'm saying what I wrote. It was a bad call because the probability was too low for it to be worth giving away the points and putting one of the best kickers in the NFL at risk. You are welcome to stick your head in the sand regarding the foolish injury risk, but I'm not talking about babying a regular player. I'm talking about a kicker, someone who faces very little contact. It certainly showed in the way he completely failed to protect himself.
