    They could, but he's going to be expensive and he's going to want to go to a contender. He's not coming to the Steelers.

    He's 31...unless they would have signed him to a multi-year deal, I wouldn't want them to push even more dead money into 2022.

    By trading, Carolina gets him with his current contract instead of having to win a bidding war. I’m not sure if they will negotiate an extension, or whether they rent him for 13 games. If he plays up to past form, a 6th is easily worth the 1 year rental IMO.

    Isn't he just two years removed from DPOY? A sixth is a steal is he can play but still seems like the Patriots are fleecing someone

    He was traded, so he had no choice.... If he had been released, I guarantee you that he would've signed with tampa
