Teams aren't really interested in trading for players in the last year of their contracts like Haden, Ebron.

We definitely need OL and CB, safety and of course the the big one QB talent also brought into the mix.
Everything that can be done must be done for the much needed capital to acquire this talent. Scouts and talent evaluators
should be working their asses off looking for this talent. Their out there you have to find them. With Colbert up in age
and on a verge of retirement someone needs to take control of this project and move it forward and QUICKLY.

Interesting thought. Most in Steeler nation will want them to draft a QB but your right about nothing great out there. (unless pure luck, ala Tom Brady) That could be the right move grabbing O-line guy.

I just figured out how we got so bad. I went to the home page here, then went to draft pick history. Apparently we haven’t drafted anyone since 2013!

So many variables. I feel the O Line will be better next season. Rudolph will start. The run game will be stronger. They draft a QB in the 1st and a RT or LT in the 2nd.

Still going to need replacements. Haden will be gone as well as Edmonds (no loss there), Juju, Washington

And what about Tuitt? Don't know if Alualu will be back. He is under contract for 2022.

My best guess 2023 season or 2024. Some will need tissues. I won't. I have lived through the lean years. Could take longer.

But like some have said and I feel they should clean house as well. Maybe the Rodgers/ Tomlin love fest will lead Popcorn to Green Bay. The Rodgers and LaFleur relationship is not a positive one.

Ben retires and Tomlin forces Art II to break the contract that should not have been done in the first place. Or they get some picks for Ol Popcorn to leave. Problem solved. They need a different voice, a fresh approach. Not that it will happen but it's the way I feel.

I just don't see it. Maybe Tomlin does but I don't think management will make a move.

Rodgers has already said he will not be in Green Bay next year so while never a serious option you can take Tomlin going there off the list.

Tomlin doesn't play chess. He plays checkers. Belichick, Reid, Harbaugh, McVey, Carroll, etc... play chess.

I was referring to this crazy notion that Rodgers is coming here.

    But still agreed.

Plus I think people develop amnesia about the way this franchise operates.

How long to rebuild? Let's see....it's already been 10 years and counting so these things take time. As Billy Crystal said about his Cubbies (before they won the WS) - "Hey, you're going to have a bad century every now and then." :smiley1:

While definitely out of character, I don't think it's a sign of this franchise becoming wild and crazy in the future.

Colbert has been operating very Steeler unlike this past couple years. Minkah was just the biggest example.

Did you listen to the Pat Mcafee interview? He talked about during his whole career he's been surrounded by people from Pittsburgh. How he likes the city and how Tomlin operates. I don't follow him around so I don't know if he does that for every opposing city. Maybe he was just doing it for Pat and his audience.

One angle I don't see people talking about is he hated McCarthy and got him run out of town. Rodgers going to Pittsburgh and helping McCarthys hometown team win a Super Bowl would stick it to him. Bring back that Cowboys/Steelers rivalry. Plus, I feel like all the Tomlin praise was a dig at McCarthy.

I know it's a pipe dream but I can see it happening to. We got a solid receiving core for him and the o-line getting experience. Great RB. Why wouldn't he want to come here?

The rebuild to contender status will be complete when Rodgers officially joins the Steelers in March.

Because the 49ers are more appealing to him (hometown)... and they would sit or trade Lance to get Rodgers. Plus, 49ers have a championship caliber roster... Steelers, not so much.
