The play took 7 seconds just 7 from start to finish. That was purely Ben saying F U. In order to have blocking on the play the TE and slot receiver have to engage the defense and seal the inside then the outside receiver needs to draw his man on a route with him meaning make it look like a legit threat or he needs to seal his man inside or out and then let Harris make magic. Ben didn't sell the play, the ol didn't even get a chance to establish their block let alone identify who was doing what. The linebackers were already flying towards Harris before he could turn up field.

Canada was right there were receivers in the endzone expecting passes to be thrown.

There’s no way that Ben escapes from 91 if he had held the ball for a split second longer. Our LT was clearly beaten

Nobody was open on that play. Ben did have a bit more time to hold the ball though. However, the story of this offense is no receivers getting open, the line collapsing within 2 seconds, no running lanes and Ben not being able to scramble and throw accurately on the run these days. The more I watch this offense, the more amazed I am that they score any points at all. Thinking back to the killer B days, it really shows how fast things change in the NFL. They went from being one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL to the worst in the span of less than 5 years.

sure there is. Step up into the pocket and pass to the open receiver in the endzone. Face it, Ben choked.

Can`t make out who it was, but if Ben moves around and buys some time a guy is open in the middle EZ

Listen we aren't looking to reinvent the wheel as we paint with a wide brush but we are keeping a light on and the door open while we let participation be our guide. Obviously we aspire to have our full story written and we embrace the challenges that come with that as we prepare for a varsity level game. Obviously I don't concern myself with the stories you write because we embrace that next man up mentality as we seek perfection.

    91 moves upfield, too.

[EDIT: upfield = opposite direction from how the offense is (supposed to be) going.]

These types of things mean nothing to me.

    a) What they (Ben, MT, Canada) say in public are all couched based on their own agendas. that's not even a bad thing. For instance maybe Tomlin doesn't want throw his QB or OC under the bus just yet.
    b) It's in the past. What's important is how they react, learn, and deal with it going forward.

We've all been in situations where something goes wrong. Hey, it happens. The big thing is not the outward stance but what happens in private to make sure it doesn't happen again.

And I'm not excusing that play or who was at fault, just saying that the how, why, and who is history. The team just needs to make sure to learn from it and make sure it doesn't happen again.

I appreciate someone sticking up for Canada, he hasn't gotten a lot of good chatter lately, so I appreciate and agree with this thread

Ben is the one to talk to about what happened not Canada,

The surprising thing for me was, and still is, the Canada hire to start with...Not that I dislike him but...

His whole " style " is completely opposite of what the man currently running it is strong at...Tons of motion, misdirection, the ability of the QB to be mobile, RPO's, naked boots, rollouts...

This hire just seemed like the ole "putting a square peg into a round whole theory" ...It just seemed like a very bad fit of contrasting styles to me

I get your point, but as of now, week 4, the problems have been more about penalties, dropped passes, and Ben and receivers not synching and miscommunication, and not about Canada

the next couple of weeks will be telling, do we see improvement or more penalties, dropped passes, and miscommunication

I may be in the minority here but I see improvement, I liked those long drives we had last week, I am looking for a rebound week

I don’t think Colbert intended to bring Ben back when they promoted Canada. That was Rooney overruling him.

I actually agree with this. I really believe that Ben coming back was a surprise to both Colbert and Tomlin
