Other than Minkah and Watt, the Steelers aren't exactly swimming in the kind of top-end talent that's going to command huge contracts. I really don't see the Watt and pending Minkah contracts being the end of the world.

They will have plenty of money to spend in free agency in 2022.

Time will tell how this investment will help us to the playoffs. I would assume with this type of investment we should be getting somewhere we haven't been to for a while. If that is not the expectation, then what are we doing making it? I think someone mentioned earlier in another threat that TJ disappears in the playoffs and I can't disagree. Its easy for people to spend other people's money so I understand why so many think its great to have these mega deals. Just hope its worth it.

So we still have 11 million this year and 40 million next year? If Ben ends it this year, we'll be more than fine next year to sign someone big.

Everyone on this board should be overjoyed that a player like TJ wants to play for the Steelers. Nuf' said.

    Benny is mourning.

No, they really didn't. They had a defense that might have been in the conversation for best in the league with both Dupree and Bush, and they were still at least in the top five with Dupree. Once they lost both, no, they were not a great defense.

Matter of fact, you are right. When Bud Dupree got hurt, there were some leaks in the Steelers defense. They were a good defense. Not great.

Imo when you have the best edge rusher in the league you pay the best pass rusher in the league. He's a staple to the defense and 2 sacks shows he's worth it.

You need core players to build around and he's one of them.

He proved the doubters wrong that he'd somehow be unaffective without Bud Dupree.
