True or false? Also we have very little draft capital with which to draft Ben's replacement next year or the next year.

I fear we may be stuck with another Rudolph vs Duck situation while Watt eats up all our salary cap on D.

Damn if that title didn't make me spit my beer out laughing. Just finish enjoying Watt for 4 more years and get slammed with this.

Try to enjoy what it means for this season.

Its a great deal. 4 years doesn't take him to the wheelchair in his final seasons and he gets his big boy bucks that he has earned.

You never know what can happen moving forward and how we will wheel and deal. It does feel like the end of Ben's era is like reaching the tipping point of a rollercoaster, it could be a fun ride or scary as **** when we drop over the top... but obviously we are not in control. Just enjoy the ride and enjoy TJ kicking the crap out of more opponents.

What are you talking about? They have a first round pick in 2022 to find Ben's replacement, and they can trade picks from 2023 if they need to move up in the draft.

They can easily afford it, by year 2-3 of TJ’s deal Chase Young and others will have surpassed him and the cap will have gone up. Keep drafting good players and they will be fine.

Take a look at how many picks we have in next year's draft and the following year. We've already traded a bunch away.

Picks after round 3-4 are basically lottery tickets, you can easily get comparable players in free agency / UDFA

THey will have four picks inside the top 100 if I’m not mistaken

They only traded a 5th in 2023, I know about the picks traded away in 2022, they will get comp picks though for 2022 probably a 3rd and a 5th.

Maybe so, but they still have value as you can package them to move up in earlier rounds. Without these 'lottery tickets' you have no leverage to move up if you see a player you really like. There's a reason teams trade good players for 5th or 6th round picks...those picks have value.

Not to be That Guy but ignore Benny. Stirring up drama as per usual. More so is the fact that this user never participates in the NFL Draft discussions to begin with; very seldom if so.

If you want to move up in early rounds teams want 2nd, 3rd or 4th round picks, not late rounders

Where these late picks do have value is if you trade for players in season to cover injuries etc. This hasn’t worked out all that well for the steelers though, Vannett etc

LOL. You really think Ben's replacement is going to be found in the 5th, 6th, or 7th round?

I don't remember them trading away any of our 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd round picks.

Expect that to change. Pittsburgh traded away their first for Minkah Fitzpatrick. I would expect nothing less to grab the guy assuming this is it for Big Ben.

Dude they just inked the best player on our defense for 5 years and a top 10 player in the NFL. What gives? He is a difference maker. Who cares about the picks or lack of at this point they will figure that part out after the season. Fitzpatrick deal next year as well.

    Ignore Benny.

If anything though, all this means moving forward is that this is Terrell Edmunds final season in Pittsburgh. I will say this; should he ball out this season, some team is going to throw some serious money his way. Why the final season for Terrell?

Do not think for a second that Minkah Fitzpatrick is playing a blind eye to any of this. Remember that Jamal Adams just became the highest paid safety in the NFL. Should Minkah obtain another First Team All Pro Award?? That title will belong to him.

Sooooo.......how does this signing affect our cap this year? Is TJ's cap hit still in the 10 million range?

Anyone know how much space we have currently, just for this year?

We don't need to worry about Ben's replacement yet. He's going to have a lights out year and then be good for another 2-3 seasons.
