You know how I feel about Najee, but for the team in general, would it have been better to use last night's game as the tune up and not the 3rd game? The key starters would have gotten the same amount of snaps, just a week later.

Looks like the league is using the last game as the tune up, which means the Steelers starters will have 3 weeks between games on opening day, as opposed to 2 for everyone else.

The last pre season game normally is used for those on the bubble to make a last impression to either make the 53 or the practice squad. Some who will make the squad still need reps ala Benny Snell, Haskins who didn't help their case.

This has been the same method the last 5-6 years. Doesn't seem to be much of change with how the Steelers approach it.

There was no pre-season last year, and the Steelers came out and Ben through for like almost 300 yards a 3 TD's and Benny Snell almost had a 100 yard game I think in week 1 against the Giants.

I don't think playing your starters in a pre-season game week 4 has much barring on it.

I DO think its a bigger deal resting them the final week 17 game when the offense didn't play for poop for 5 weeks.

Everyone was on equal footing last year and the Giants stink. At Buffalo is a tall order.

I dont like the way Tomlin runs the preseason. I never have.

At least this year most of the starters played significant time together in game 3. There has been more than a few years where even that wasn't the case.

There's no right answer, brother. If we come out playing great and give Buffalo a game, was it because of how the preseason was handled?

I think it's more about how we have prepared in general over the course of camp and the preseason. We still don't have TJ or Tuitt having ANY meaningful reps. Ben has been on a pitch count. The OL is still up for grabs. Whether the starters played 60 minutes against Carolina or none really pales in comparison with the body of work the starters have had together to prepare. I don't think that one game is enough.

We did have an extra preseason game to get even the bubble players more prepared. To see how bad they looked at this point is just another indication that we're not coached well.

Well the Steelers played the hof game, so they're on a different schedule than the rest of the teams, except Dallas.

the teryl austin interview said it all for me. he was even laughing saying it. we haven't practiced a dime package because we don't have the nickel sorted out yet. what??????????????? is there another team that is in pro sports that would even say this? colbert is too busy patting himself on the back for bringing in a couple of players, well i got news for you, you ain't done yet son. what you gave up far outweighs what you brought in, in the secondary. i don't think turner was as important as no slot corner. coward or finney could have played guard as well.

Their plan was for Brooks to handle the slot CB, with his injury and release now it's on to plan B.

Don’t worry Glenn maybe in another 10 years of 0 postseason success you will see the light.

I don’t know why you wouldn’t take me seriously. I honestly think TOMLIN is a trash NFL HC. Just an opinion I have you can feel free to have your own.

Hope none of the starters in the secondary get injured. The DLine and LBs will be OK. Secondary has ZERO depth.

Opinions are fine except when they totally defy facts and sensible logic.
Then they’re just unreasonable questionable thoughts.

Yeah, our different schedule gave us one more opportunity to show to the world how much depth we don't have.

I would bet some players they have been looking at will be brought in. Lots of cuts coming from all teams. Some of those players fit different schemes better than where they've been.
As for the other teams playing this last game as warm up...it's a first....because usually they mostly do the same as we did......Mostly. LoL. Play vets the 3rd game, and Bubble players the 4th.

Hmmm...looks like it's a balance of teams playing starters -- KC, Buf, Bal did -- and others sticking with backups.

Agreed. I've watched every game they've shown on NFL network, and that's what I've seen also. Watching Jags, and Cryboys now
