Mason would get Popcorn his .500 season but Haskins could return him to playoff glory? After Ben is forced to get on with his recovery from life's temptations of course.

Title of thread needs to be changed from "QB2 Battle" to "QB2 Pillow Fight".

    These guys are both awful.

As Saturday nears closer and closer, will be interesting to see how often both Dwayne and Mason play. Furthermore, which one will play with the 1s?! I seriously doubt Big Ben will need more than a series to tune up. The rest of the offense though likely will need more polish.

Ben will play two series, both 3 and outs and turn the reigns over to Haskins.

What's with the Haskins hate? I was down on him when we signed him but what I've seen so far there's promise. Despite the competition he's played against he's at least made plays and put points on the board.

If so, that is pretty much how Ben will start the season. He needs more work.

i don't think it's hate for haskins, just after a couple of weeks though the anointment of him being the savior. we should be really happy that we have both at this point. not many other teams have this type of group from that room. they both can play.

What I find interesting are the comments on both extremes of the spectrum, from they've both been great so far to they both stink. Neither of those is true. They've both shown that they have the ability to play in this league (and so has Dobbs, for that matter). What we haven't seen from any of them in their short careers so far, though, is consistently good play. That's what I'm looking for. They all have the ability in themselves to do that. The question is - will any of them?

Mason is #2... not so much in bathroom joke lore but I digress... roster wise I think it’s his regardless of the Haskins mania uptick. Dobbs is out without a doubt

Small victory golf clap - we haven't given up a 1st to explore any options...Mason was a 3rd (+trade up), Haskins an UFA. The team has two viable options to turn towards if Ben goes down. They have put themselves in a favorable situation even if the situation is ever evolving. BUT NO REAL draft capital has been expended imo. KC and MT came out and said they were still learning to evaluate the QB position and I'm sure it's still ongoing. Ben is the starter, and 2A and 2B will sort itself out. I'm ok with that for the 2021 season. I do hope one of them will break free of the pack and separate themselves but until they are needed, the TEAM has two options.

Seeing what Trubisky did with the Bills offense makes me wish the Steelers would have made a play for him.

I was thinking the same with Sam Darnold but I think the timing was off a year. I will be watching his play in Carolina to see if I was way off, which is prob the case lol.

I agree, just always am amazed at the fascination with the 3rd string QB during pre season. Its been a thing for as long back as I can remember as a Steelers fan.

It's different though because Haskins has skills that our run of the mill third stringers usually don't. Could he be a future starter? Who knows, but it's exciting I think.

He may have potential but its only based on where he was drafted. He has yet to prove otherwise but I do partially understand the excitement, especially from watching him in college. I hope he excels and keeps his head on straight but as I mentioned in a previous post, lets look at who he is playing against and the minutes that he played. Until he plays puts those numbers up against starters I will temper my expectations.

Don't feel bad I thought the Colts should have taken Ryan Leaf over Peyton Manning.

Honestly, No. He can not be a future starter. Im sorry it isn't happening. We have all seen what he is now. He is good enough to be on an NFL roster. I saw nothing to make me believe he is ever going to be anything more than an NFL backup. Frankly that goes for Rudolph too.

Doesn't it piss you off when we start games like that? I would imagine that is just how the Buffalo game will start.
