Bumping up on this dreary rainy day.

Big Country Music Festival in my area and the rain is dampening the mood. I'm not a country music fan but I think there are some big names in my town. Only one I really know is Carrie Underwear. It is a 3 day fest on the beach and I'm little pissed that the little stores counting on the $$$$$ may get screwed with this weather.

Isn't "Rapture" one of the first rap songs? Blondie was one of my favorites.

I always thought the 1st rap was from CDB, or for those not in the know. Charlie Daniels Band.

I don't ever do any predictions for a season but was watching the Cards and Chiefs game tonight and found it interesting that while board members are talking about how tough the Steelers schedule is and how dominant the Chiefs could be I missed that the Chiefs play the Browns week 1 and Ravens in week 2. So potentially two division opponents could be looking at being behind in the first month.

Edit: Ravens open at Las Vegas so it is a tough schedule for them too

Yeah I had never heard of the word "Rap" until Blondie came out with "Rapture" in 1982.

Dreaming is my favorite Blondie song! Plus it plays an important role in figuring out the Sopranos last season. :icon e geek:

Im almost positive there were dudes rapping before CDB and Blondie. Deborah Harry spent a lot of time in NYC, i believe, which is why she was inspired to rap on that song.:icon e geek:

All the best rap came out in the 90's. Its really not that good anymore, JMO. Its hard to keep doing kind of the same thing in a new and creative way.

I kept going back and forth on the Seahawks game. I ultimately gave us the W there, because we always play well in October.

OK. CDB was the 1st Rap type/style vocals I ever heard, and that was the 70s. I should have said that. That I ever heard

    Don't love it.

Remember, I grew up listening to both kinds of music. Thrash metal and death metal! Hahahaha!

My music tastes didn't evolve until I got older. 13 year old me would not be able to comprehend some of the stuff I listen to now.

I always envisioned them as a Thrash / Prog Country band. Especially in the their earlier days compared 2 what was being played in Country then.
Like I said I Love it all. I grew up predominantly Country, and Metal, but I like it all. Back in School days when some of us kids had our blue Jean sleeveless jackets with our bands patches on them. Alongside Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer, Fates Warning, and Maiden patches....I had Prince, CDB, and Hank . LoL. My buddies would laugh at that. LoL

Best thing ive read all day!! You're a big music nerd just like me.

Fates Warning!!!! :rawk: What a blast from the past! I havent listened to them in ages.

I will say I do love southern rock bands. Love Skynyrd, Molly Hatchett (not just the album covers haha), ZZ Top of course, Outlaws...
