Steelers trading for LB Joe Schobert

As some posters have already stated we can hope that he turns out
to be another Farrior. Fingers crossed. But we still need to have
a competent other ILB that can defend the pass if need be. As of today
there is lot of work needed at this skill.

His press conference was kind of wild. You kind of get how stressful that can be for a family. Para phrasing, called the wife, I'll be home for dinner and walk our new dog. GM said Hey Joe, pack your bags for Pittsburgh you're outta here. Practice wasn't even over.

The one thing that doesn't pass the smell test... its that Tomlin said they called we answered... and Jags GM said Steelers called and were very persistent in getting him.

COLBERT: Hey Jags GM....I want this player.. for a late round pick and I want you to pay for half of it.

JAGS GM: Man this guy is persistent.... guess we should just do this or he might call back

A cover guy like Schobert will allow Bush to blitz more...

 

He has not lived up to the expectations, he is a real liability in pass coverage.

schobert to play bush's role since he's having trouble in coverage? maybe the coaches are seeing his knee isn't quite there yet for those duties. sounds like schobert will be calling the defense with the dot. good to hear he's getting it quickly. man i love this pickup.

 

Great we got him. If Bush doesn't look better soon though he's another wasted 1st round pick. Those are starting to add up.

 

Compounded by the trade up. Love Minkah, too, but could have saved that first round pick if we had drafted Bates instead of Edmunds.

I appreciate how Colbert is filling the holes with FA and trades to win now, but missed/lost draft picks add up and someone is going to be left holding the bag in a couple years.

 

Look at other teams and their first round picks. We are doing fine with them. Even if Bush doesn't live up to our hopes he is far from a bust.

Every regular season game I have seen him play he has been great. Our defense had a huge hole in it last year when they played without him.

 

I don't know about great, but He's pretty good till he got injured. He maybe great someday though.

 

Not so sure about that ..I saw him quite a few games get abused by TE's in coverage... He's been far from great
