Tomlin says Ben will play. I'd like to see Haskins against the 1st team out there. You think Ben should start?

If Ben plays then he is starting. I don't think there is anything to talk about with that. I'd like to see Haskins next, hopefully with the other starters still in for a bit.

Im sold on Haskins. He put points on the board. Bigger risk? Yes. But also bigger reward. Mason must start scoring points. Two preseason games left but Im sold on Haskins as #2, as far as on field performance goes. Yes I want him to play against the opposing starters this preseason.

You’re sold on a former #1 pick playing against 2nd,3rd, and 4th string defenses? He’s looked okay to me, but has a long way to go IMO.

Haskins has lit it up against 2nd and 3rd string defenders. He will not be nearly as good vs NFL starters. Hate to break the bad news, reality, etc.

Yeah, I'm sure Rico Busboy and Matthew Sexton won't be able to get open against guys like Denzel Ward.

Or wait, would he get to play with starters on offense, too?

Our backup O-line is better than the starters.

Ben definitely needs to start. We don't want them trying a to get a new offense going against Buffalo in week one. If Ben only plays a few series I think they should put Haskins in next. It may depend on how effective the offensive is with Ben in there and how long they plan to play him.

Haskins hasn't even lit it up. He's at a little over 6 yards an attempt for the preseason. Rudolph is at almost 9. I need to see more from Haskins if he's going to surpass Rudolph.

So why are the backup Rbs not being judged over Najee the same way as people are Judging the Qbs???
I mean the backup Rbs are running all over the 3rd , and 4th stringers and scoring. Yet we are not jumping 2 conclusions about them being better than Najee.
So if using common sense for the Rbs,...why not the Qbs???

Because Haskins being better than Rudolph in producing points is not a reach but more like reality.

LoL. So Samuel's is better than Najee. He's scored Tds , and has more yards. Heck he's not the only Rb 2 out score , and out rush Najee on this team.
:shrug:So We should just trade Najee???
No. Because We know one is playing against people who will actually play ,or backup on Real Game Day, and the others are doing it against soon 2 be Ups drivers, car salesman, and if they are Lucky practice squad players.

I like what I've seen to this point from Haskins, but I don't see where he's outplayed Rudolph to the point where he is annointed Ben's back-up. Ben gets the start and gets probably three series'. Then I think Rudolph will get a like number and then Haskins and Dobbs split the balance. Against the Panthers, Rudolph will probably get the first quarter, then another split between Haskins and Dobbs.

Like i said, Haskins besting Rudolph is almost confirmed. Your argument isn't even plausible.

Ben will start the game and stay for one quarter or until he takes them down the field to score.

At any point, Big Ben is starting the game. How much he will play is what should be the question here. A series?! A drive?! One Quarter perhaps?! Who knows?!

I do agree that Haskins should step up next with the 1s should any of them be still within the game. Of the projected starters, I would like to see Claypool, JuJu and Ebron out there with Haskins. Would be interesting to see what he can do with them.

I think the idea is that Haskins has a higher ceiling than Rudolph, that MR has reached his ceiling as backup QB while Haskins could develop into a starter.

With that said I don't necessarily see the urgency of promoting him. I guess he would get a few more practice snaps with the ones during the season? If Ben goes down and Rudolph struggles, we will see what Haskins can do.

Ben will start but only get a series or 2. I would like to see Haskins come in after Ben. I would like to see what he can do with and against starters.

Then start Rudolph in the finale and compare. As of now neither have been more than just OKAY IMO.

To me is not even Haskins vs Mason any more.... its Mason vs Dobbs.....Haskins will be on the roster its not even in question. Mason is looking just like Landry Jones..... #2 Qb.. just signed an extention.. making the most money....and they kept Mason and Dobbs

I don't even care who #2 on gameday day

I would be 100% onboard with Mason # 2 and Haskins #3. If Ben were to go down in game...Mason comes in.... but if it was for multiple games.. I might keep Mason at #2 and start Haskins.

and FYI...I like Mason. But his ceiling is lower than Haskins.

Unless Mason does something wrong in the 3rd game I don't look for him or Ben to play in the fourth game of preseason.

I think Haskins will play the 1st half of the last preseason game with Dobbs playing the 2nd half. The final battle for the #3 spot.
