Can’t imagine that the trade compensation will be anything much because it was a bad contract for Jacksonville. Steelers will restructure his $7m for this year and then decide what to do at the end of the season. They won’t inherit any of his guarantees so it will be easy to move on if he is not good.

you saw two safeties come over late. when teams are known for their TE usage like they are a safety should be picking them up before they are that far down field. there are not too many ilb'ers that can cover that far into the secondary.

If Schobert's pass coverage is as good as advertised, is Bush still an every down LB? In some subpackages he's the only ILB on the field.

Or does pedigree and draft capital investment win out?

I'm just sharing what I read. Some people here swear by PFF.

I'm also not particularly impressed by anyone leading a bad team in a bunch of categories, though I was certainly impressed with Schobert when he was with the Browns.

My best guess is that Bush could sit on some third downs early in the season, but possibly take that every-down role back as he gets back to 100 percent.

i agree when he was with the browns he looked good. i wanted him in the draft. wisconsin had a ton of good LB'ers through that stretch coming into the league.

I'm here for it. He fits our scheme with his coverage, isn't a liability, and is known for being a quality leader on and off the field.

I remember Schobert always being a thorn in the Steelers side when he was a Brown. Especially on 3rd down it seemed like he was always around the football. I remember him picking off Ben in OT in the game that ended in a tie a couple of years ago. It should have ended the game but their kicker missed the FG.

Colbert gets a bad rap but I'm loving the aggressive moves.

Shobert will not disappoint this is a quality addition to the ILB corp I'm still in a bit of shock that this is actually happened.

It doesn't sound like a lot was given up. Imo he can be a 7mill a year ILB even though that is a lot

After watching two outings of Spillane it's a much needed addition. I thought he played pretty well, not spectacular last season. What a disappointment!

Now they have to give a pick up and pay Schobert 7 large.

The only guy to start all 16 games on defense led the team in counting stats?

Defenses are designed for ILBs to get tackles. Vince was second on the team in tackles last year, 9 behind Minkah in 350 fewer snaps.

Schobert was a Steelers killer when we played the Browns seemed like guy would always make plays against us.

This would be like us getting Rashed Mathis, Aaron Glenn, Josh Cribbs, and Mike Glennon

I think he's more Glenn than Cribbs or Glennon. Schobert is legitimately a good player.

He's good. He is sometimes hurt and bit fragile I believe.

But this trade was needed without a doubt!

By fragile, do you mean having to play through nagging injuries? Schobert played all 16 games in three of the past four seasons, missing three in 2018.

Now... if we could get a legit CB to pair with Haden. The CB corps is a huge liability, judging by the past 2 preseason games.

Said it before, I'll say it again... COLBERT is, and has been the glue to this team. His drafts and his ability to make moves like this are unparalleled! I've never seen a Coach do more with less. Our D is basically a unit of very high draft picks...This team is Toast when Colbert hangs em up! If you can't do **** in the playoffs with his rosters, Wtf is Popcorn gonna do if he has an inadequate GM!

Yep, Ballage needs to be healthy, and he needs to be the primary backup to Harris. That's a good looking one-two punch there.

I'd like to be able to say I see a future for McFarland, because you'd love to find a way to use that great speed, but man, he's not going to last anywhere in this league if he keeps losing the ball on every single hard hit he takes - including just falling to the ground hard. I know stick-um was outlawed decades ago, but isn't there any compound they could coat his hands with to fix this that won't result in an infraction? Because he sure needs it if there is.
