After this year, it will go from 2003 to 2021. 6-11.

What you really mean is, what if the team could magically get a Franchise QB without using the 1st round picks they used for players iike Hampton, Faneca, and Polamalu. And without dealing with the cap hit of a HoF QB on his 2nd/3rd/4th contracts.

That would be like giving Tomlin's teams a player like Joe Haden back in 2010, without having to trade or use draft picks or deal with the cap hit of an All-Pro CB. (That is 2 more rings for 2010-2011 alone. Adding Haden to a team that already was the #1 defense would have been huge.)

The counter argument is: why didn't Cowher make an effort to get a Franchise QB before the Rooney's forced it on him?

In the 12 years prior to the Ben pick, these were the draft picks used on QB:
2nd (and Slash was drafted to be a WR)
    two 5ths
    two 6ths
    8th
    12th

That's it. That is a conscious choice to not even try to get a Franchise QB, and instead spend resources on other parts of the team.

Geez. So I comment that an incredible run on regular season games is a spectacular stat but the post season has been somewhat of a disappointment and everyone thinks I'm a miserable fan and am generally unhappy in life. Sorry If I believe that a trophy or two should accommodate those accomplishments but you guys just go ahead and enjoy those participation trophies and I will continue to live in my SB or bust mentality.

Agreed. Just because you acknowledge that this is it pretty impressive streak doesn’t mean you have to ignore some of Tomlin‘s Shortcomings.
Some fans just flat out refused to give Tomlin credit for anything positive. Their hatred of him is so strong that they’re incapable of acknowledging anything positive.

Tell me where I ever mentioned Mike Tomlins name in my response to this post or any specific Steelers coach for that matter. I know you're pointing my original comment out as it is very obvious. Go ahead and tell me. I'll be waiting.

Really? I guess you want to bait me into getting the thread closed and then you can point all the fingers. BTW-It's not worth my time to debate you on anything.

Oh, I'll give him credit. That streak isn't easy to accomplish.

But without any post season success to speak of since 2010 (or maybe more accurately, getting thumped in embarrassing fashion to knock us out), it feels a tad hollow.

Exactly. What is missed on this statistic is the fact that many of those non losing seasons were total disappointments. Expectations were high as we had a HOF QB with talent around him. The team has done an amazing job at providing consistency and talent at most positions. If you look at the elite QB's over the years I'm sure they had very few losings seasons...and the one's that did occur probably had something to do with injuries. Tom Brady also did not have a losing season. If an NFL coach with a healthy HOF QB in their prime has a losing season he should be fired immediately.

Hey, if Tomlin doesn't want haters, maybe win a playoff game or two. It's not rocket science.

Tomlin might be the best coach to not win a Super Bowl in the past ten years. Or we could say lesser coaches than Tomlin have won Super Bowls in the past ten years.

What's a coach to do when a HOF QB doesn't perform like a HOF QB in the post season? Coaches can't play the games for the players.
