Highsmith or Ingram, one thing is for sure Ingram will play more snaps than the other #3 OLB the Steelers had recently. Ingram is definitely an upgrade over the likes of Chickillo, and Ola as the #3 OLB.

Ingram is a MASSIVE upgrade in the pass rush over our recent backup OLBs, provided that he can suit up. Even when battling injuries, he was disruptive. I saw a stat where he had 28 pressures last year in 7 games played. That’s a pretty robust number of pressures. Sacks are nice, but it’s not all about sacks. A lot of interceptions and incompletions start with pressure.

As for who has the most: assuming that Ingram is healthy, I see him and Highsmith both being in the 5-7 sack range this season. Some of Ingram’s sacks may come from lining up inside when both Watt and Highsmith are on the field, and possibly when spelling Watt, so I think Highsmith will have more from the ROLB spot.

Ingrams health is the key. If he is 100% healthy he may very well out-snap Highsmith this season. That is a very big if.

I actually think both players are going to have good seasons. Highsmith should take a big step forward in year 2. I think Ingram will be healthy enough to be more than just a back up.

I will say Highsmith and Ingram tie with 7 sacks apiece.

That would certainly be great but that’s 14 sacks coming from the #3/4 position. That seems pretty optimistic.

I'm thinking Ingram is going to spell Watt from time to time as well. Your right though. 14 may be a bit ambitious.

He said at camp yesterday that he's 200% healthy.

I'll go conservative with 12 sacks out of Ingram/Highsmith. Enough to have the Steelers fighting for the sack lead for sure.

As long as their getting after it, I'll be happy. I like the motors of our OLB's

extra game this year. i could see those numbers. what ingram means is a fresher highsmith and TJ. that's huge down the stretch. remember highsmith will be in his true first long season as a starter.

I’m hoping it’s HighSmith who gets more sacks since that will signal he has taken a step forward. Although I think it’s actually going to be Ingram who has more based on his experience.

"extra game" This is why stats are so misleading in all sports. I remember when 1000 yard rusher was amazing in 12 game season. Now they will have 17 games to get there. This goes for all stats.

Ingram. Highsmith is going to be really, really good, but I bet they drop Highsmith a ton, which is probably a good move given our depth now.

    Watt 16

    Highsmith 9

    Ingram 7

Highsmith will start with Ingram spelling both him and Watt

I think it's actually pretty good because at least a couple of TJ's sacks will go to their grouping if he's getting a breather from time to time. A good question is how many sacks will there end up being from the trio? If the secondary is better and holds up enough to give the pass rush another second, the trio will get 30 sacks distributed amongst them.

This is just a HUGE signing. I was traveling when the deal was done so I missed the initial splash. I still think Highsmith will be the starter and they'll use Ingram as the "closer" if you will, along with giving both guys a breather. A bona fide pass rush specialist where there is no drop off when he comes in. And if healthy an improvement on Highsmith when rushing. 3 legit pass rushers on the edge for a team already leading the league in sacks the past couple years is just big.

I think Ingram will have more sacks than Highsmith just because they may want to utilize that experience on obvious passing situations and why wouldn't they. No slight to Highsmith as he will do the 9 to 5 job more than admirably imo. A lot for opposing OCs to think about when its 3rd and long. And that's just on the edge. Not to mention Cam and Tuitt.

I just bought some blue yummies today, as I'm assuming that was supposed to be Busch Lights. But I know you're in CA so maybe they have beer flavored lattes??:lolol:
