They scored 9 pts in 3 qtrs against a bad D, and then finally started hitting passes when the Browns loosened up with a 15-pt lead.

This guy has yet to produce one Wow moment in the NFL.

Of course Dobbs should be #2. Rudolph is a bum. I've only been screaming this for years but nobody listens to my expert opinion.

I like Minshew. I don’t see him as a franchise QB by any means, but I’d take him as a primary backup and spot starter over Rudolph, Haskins or Dobbs any day, and for me it’s not even close.

I think Minshew gives you a shot at a Tommy Maddox/Fitzmagic YOLO type season that, with a better defense, could lead to good things.

Dobbs and Rudolph are too limited, IMO.

Dobbs and Mason had a chance for a reception, there was no chance to catch Haskins pass, just sayin, waaaay to early

a side note, they were throwing to running backs in that drill, Ben's reception was to Najee Harris

It was tongue in cheek but disagree on Rudolph, his was the worst of the group. Overthrown and off target.

Rudolph throws a good deep ball though, I was just having fun propping up my boy.

It's the Matakevich effect. Sorry, the "Dirty Red" effect. For some INEXPLICABLE reason, the fan base overvalues a particular player for one reason or another.

As far as Dobbs goes, I don't know if it's because he isn't actually made of concrete like MR, and can run a little bit. Or the whole "We have a rocket scientist as a QB" thing. Either way, I'd rather have Landry Jones any day.

I just SMH at some of the delusions on comments I have read on Dobbs (not so much here). Like he would be a trick play wizard, 3rd down expert, a great sideline coach for Ben...huh??? This I do know, was beaten out of 2nd string here (his play that preseason was bad), traded to the Jags where he was beaten out by Minshew and a rookie who is not all that good. I am so tired of this he just needs an opportunity non-sense. The opportunity does not come because he is just not that good, period.

It's Pittsburgh's love affair with the blue collar, lunch box type long shot. Matakevich was short on talent but worked hard and played hard. Dobbs gets love because fans think he hasn't gotten a fair shot here. He's a career third stringer, TBH.

You and the rest of the rank and file members must have a very different interpretation of the word "expert".

I think it’s part what you say, part that’s he’s a smart guy - literally a rocket scientist, and part that he hasn’t played enough to have a disappointing moment. Fans can imagine him as an athletic genius wonderkind, if he only got the chance. If he played enough to suck, they’d move on to the next shiny object. All that said, I always like Dobbs. Smart, well mannered, does his job, doesnt complain, traits he shares with lots of people I like and know - all of whom aren’t NFL starting QB material either.
