I think the team will be decent enough to compete but the divisional competition will be better. 10 wins will be a challenge. Anything above that will be unexpected at least from my view point. I can see Tomlin having his first losing season. His job will be safe though even if he goes 6-11. The guy has never had a hot seat and probably never will with this organization.

I think with Denmark's size he could easily play some safety.

    What does that even mean?

These are camp bodies and practice squad guys at best, you just don't replace the best slot corner in the league with a UDFA because the best slot corner in the league started that way.

You must be pissed we didn't draft the next Tom Brady in the 6th round.

Spillane and Hilton among others were UDFA's ?

Spillane sucked, one memorable stop of Derrick Henry notwithstanding. If he's playing meaningful snaps again we're in trouble.

Hilton was a lightning strike, just expecting the next rookie UDFA to immediately fill his shoes is, like I said, naive.

Spillane didn't suck, he might not be a starter, but he's a good depth guy. Spillane also had a pick six against Lamar Jackson, you act like they needed to use a high draft pick to replace Hilton , I expect Shakur Brown to be Hilton's replacement. Brown was expected to get drafted around the fifth round, him being a UDFA isn't that big of a deal.

How are you proving me wrong? The Steelers hit on a handful of UDFAs out of the hundreds they've signed in the last two decades?

Also, listing Spillane and Hassenhauer was comical because they're two terrible football players. You missed Willie Parker, though.

Oh, now pre-draft expectations are important?

I expect Sutton to be Hilton's replacement, with Layne or Pierre put on an island in nickel.

So we're up to two memorable Spillane plays now to counter all the times he was caught up in the wash, overran gaps, and got torched in coverage.

he got torched much less then bush or vince in coverage. harrison became DPOY as an udfa. so yes these guys can play they are not all garbage like you think. sorry we don't have first rounders at all 53 spots. udfa's fill many, many teams rosters and help teams. that's just an NFL fact.:cool::cool::cool::cool:

Spillane didn’t remotely suck, did a good job but they tried to play him too soon off his injury.

I voted Yes because "Maybe" was not a choice. However, better team does not mean more wins than last season.

IMO, we were lucky in the extreme on how our schedule landed last year. We were no where near the quality of a 12-4 team. In other words, rearranging the same opponents we could have finished as poorly as 8-8. This is just my opinion based on many years of observation and cannot be proven so FWIW.

The closest thing to pulling a rabbit out of the hat is we actually do a good job rebuilding the 0-line AND we get a serious run game going which can really help an offense that depends on an aging QB.

we had soooo many key injuries last year and that led to the downfall. without those, instead of a possible 8-8 we could have easily been 14-2.

I think its pretty tough to say that Dallas and Denver have good rosters. Even Carolina. They are sub-par rosters, mediocre at best for Denver and Carolina. Dallas' defense was hilariously bad and would only have made the playoffs with a healthy Dak due to the ineptness of the rest of the division. Denver has more pieces, but still not a great roster...

Denver - Off rank - 25, Def rank - 15 - This is exacerbated by being sub-par at QB, but bad offense avg def.... not really a "good" roster IMO. Mediocre at best.
Dallas - Off rank - T-23, Def rank - 28 - Again, bad QB play, but horrific defense. Not a great offensive cast. Dallas is the definition of a weak roster propped up by a solid QB.
San Fran - Off rank - 19, Def rank - 17 - TONS of injuries. This was a much better team than their record, and not a true representative of this list. S**t happens.
Carolina - Off rank - 21, Def rank - 18 - Teddy B is fine, but the team was below avg offensively and defensively. Missed McCaffrey, but they generally have a below avg. roster.
NYG - Off rank - T-23, Def rank - 8 - To be honest this looks like the best roster of the bunch. At least has a quality team defense statistically. Still lots of holes on the roster. I would call this at least an NFL avg roster. Something had to happen for them to essentially "underachieve" their rank. I would imagine they lost a lot of close games.

Based on their team statistics, I would figure Dallas, Denver, and Carolina just have poor rosters. They deserved a 5-6 win team. San Fran had too many injuries and was likely a much better team than their record if they stayed healthy. NYG had better team stats but going 3-5 in games decided by 4 pts or less sealed them a 6 win season when they are probably closer to a 8 win team looking at their team stats. Not that team stats mean everything, but teams generally become an average of their team stats. Only Cleveland and Tennessee made the playoffs with a defense ranked outside the top 20 (rest of them had top 15 ranking), and only WFT and Chicago had offenses ranked outside the top 20 (Rest were top 15, Cleve T-14 next worst).

Agree with everything, but Dallas roster, propped up By a Solid Qb.
You do know he was leading the league at one point, and was tied in turnovers before he got injured. That not in including the fumbles the team didn't lose. Between him , and C. Wentz they were really stinking it up.
    Maybe you didn't know???

I mean he threw 9 TS and 4 INT in the 5 games he started (2-3 record). I was basing it off of his previous seasons mostly... he threw for 4900 yards, 30 TD and 11 INT the year prior. He may have been turning it over more, but I think that was in part due to the fact that the entirety of that roster is garbage and he had to carry by himself. Idt Dak is a top 5 QB or anything, but he is pretty good. I don't think Dak was stinking it up by any means, his team is just trash.

They could be a better team but have a worse record than last year, I expect a more balanced offense.
