They're saying Tomlin is most overrated coach possible ever. Fact or Fiction?

That was depressing to read. If Tom Brady hadn't blew out his ACL in first game of '08, there would have been no Super Bowl appearance or victory for the Steelers. Patriots pretty much had the same team intact that went 18-1 the year prior. Only difference was Cassel at QB. Jets/Revis did the dirty work for Tomlin in 2010, by upsetting the Patriots in the divisional round. No way in hell Steelers beat the Patriots that year in Foxborough. Patriots handed the Steelers their asses on a silver platter in the regular season of 2010... and that game was at Heinz Field.

And yes, Tomlin takes the cake as the most overrated NFL Head Coach of all time. I can't think of anybody else who comes close. Maybe Gruden?

I hear what you're saying, but you can almost look at every season, and SB like that. Football is a Game of attrition.
    Example: I'll use Brady.
If Brady doesn't get knocked out of the AFCC against us ...D. Bledsoe doesn't come in, and score their only offensive TD. So we ( by this thought process) go on 2 play in the SB.
There are many examples of this if you break down whole Seasons. Whole histories would change if that guy , or another didn't get hurt.:smiley1:

One thing is certain... Noll and Cowher were much better in the playoffs than Tomlin. Tomlin has FOUR one-and-dones at Heinz Field. And the other one-and-done was against Tebow at Denver.

No it hasn't but I wouldn't put Tomlin as most overrated, there's plenty of guys ahead of him.

True or false, why go down this sewer pipe again? No one wins and no one changes their minds with these. Nothing is new At least wait till the season starts for fresh dirt to throw.

You know if Tom keeps winning and Belichick keeps losing they are going to be saying that Bill Belichick is the most overrated coach in NFL History.

He may be one of the most overrated, but he is out Coach...so take your win less SB record and talk about your overrated FG kicker. We own his weaknesses, we own he may never win another rag toss challenge, and we own that for the next several years WE get to Bit** about him, because that standard is OUR standard

He is overrated IMO, but some of that stuff isn't true. They didn't blow a 16-pt lead vs. the Cardinals, and to suggest they blew a 4th Q lead to the Ravens in 2010 is silly - they overcame a 21-7 deficit to lead 24-21, Ravens tied, Steelers won.

The most disturbing trend, IMO, is how many times they've come out completely unprepared in playoff games.

I consider myself a Tomlin supporter only in the "Who are you going to replace him with" sense. But let's be fair, those are all facts and are all pretty spot on.

If we can all agree that Philip Rivers was "underwhelming" or "underachieving" because of his post season play.. We should be able to agree that even though it is FANTASTIC to have the regular season record we have had in the past 20 years..; The regular season is the potatoes, and were all hungry for MEAT.

On the same note though, as overrated as he can be, he can also be underrated when put up against the carousel of coaches other teams have had.. But our standards as fans are much higher, and for those fans who are disgruntled with Tomlin, those who support him CANT say there isnt a 'There' there.

Well spoken. Its been a horse beaten to death here. On the one hand, you can know what to expect and have faith that team is going to be ok. On the other hand, you may be willing to trade the high floor for a high ceiling since its the ceiling we want to shoot for.

Someday this team will hire a terrible coach. A Rex Ryan, an Adam Gase and the spoiled children that make up this fan base will really have something to cry about. Of course, it can’t happen here.
