Ugh. Back to normal in Beantown. DeSmith giving up 6 goals sucks. OK just a minor setback on day that Caps and NYI pulled back ahead in 1st place. Pens do need to figure out how to win on the road. All games can't be played in the Burgh (unfortunately).

Simple solution. Somehow get best record and then we will win each Playoff series 4-3.;) Could you imagine all 7 game series to win the Cup. That would be a tough 2 months.

Pens look strong when focused on defense and letting the scoring chances happen. When they get too aggressive they get hurt. Forechecking is great defense. And theyve proven great at it. Young players are getting a chance to play and our 'injured' are healing. I'm super optimistic!

Yeah, I'm pumped. Was pretty sure the party was over but the Pens are doing a great job staying relevant in the NHL.

Great game against the surging Bruins on Sunday. Pens hurdle Caps for 1st place for a while at least. Will most likely change back and forth every game each plays to the end along with NYI.

Pens in 1st with one game to go vs Caps in 2nd with 2 to play. Sullivan did an outstanding job pulling this team together after all the injuries. Lets go Pens!

Pens win last game and, by default, the Division. Great finish to the regular season. Lord Stanley here we come! :herewego::yeehaw:

    AMAZING SEASON PENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of the 4 major sports, in my strong opinion, Hockey has the biggest difference between regular season and playoffs. Only in Hockey will you see an 8 seed in the finals. Bobby Orr once said something to the effect that the regular season is for the owners, the playoffs are to see who's best.

Hate to bring this up but the NYI have caused much pain in the playoffs for our flightless birds. I still remember we had them 3 games to 0 and it was the 70's when Pittsburgh was well heard in the sports world but oh the heartache when they stormed back to win series. And I won't even mention 2019 when they whipped our ass good.:sneak:

Pens playing very good at home this season and finished strong. Hopefully the past means nothing. Always love the sports seasons when the locals far exceed expectations - e.g. Pens this season, Steelers 11-0 start last year, Bucs back in 2013-2015, Pitt.....hmmmm, can't remember.

The bad thing about having the Pittsburgh football beat writers tweet about the Pens game is that they don't put in the work to know what's going on in the game.

    Exhibit A:

Varly is out with an injury.

Hallmark of a Barry Trotz coached team....if you don't have the puck in your own zone just have all 5 guys form a halo around the net so there is no way to get a clean shot on net. Cheap ass hockey and as bad as the Trap allowing weak less talented squads to just frustrate high powered fast pace squads.

I knew once the officials didn't call a clear and obvious take down by the Islanders in OT that they had swallowed their whistles and it would mean an Islanders win.

OUCH!! The Islanders have haunted my PENS in the playoffs since 1975.

No way they sweep us again. We will fight this one out.

Unfortunately you had an inkling SM. Hate losing the 1st game out of the gate especially at home. I thought the game started noon PDT but that was EDT so only caught the last few minutes of OT. Ugh.

Hang on it's a long road. Not giving up just yet on the Pens. Although the NYI beat us 4 straight in 2019. I still have high hopes we get past them this year.

That was the low point for hockey in the 90's . The obstruction was so bad that the creative talented players were frustrated the whole season with not getting the calls. I truly believe that it shaved 4 maybe 5 years off Mario's career. I hate the trap.

Yesterday a lot of the problem was that the Pens looked scared. Petterson was turning the puck over in his own end time and time again because despite his size he got out muscled against the boards. I don't know what I find worse when Murray was the goalie and he had a weak glove hand or Jarry with his slow glove hand.

Scared or overthinking their passes in the defensive zone? Lost of puck handling mistakes leading to zone time for the Islanders. Also, what was up with the skating issues? tripping over their own 2 feet and losing edges.

Seems they always get too cute on the powerplay in the playoffs. When they won the cups they got some sloppy goals just by throwing it around the net and getting a bounce here or there.
