The Steelers obviously see this as a quick fix, and RB is traditionally the easiest transition to the NFL. It's also a short term solution. This guy got a ton of work in college, Tomlin's gonna run his wheels off, the likelyhood he sees a second contract is scant, IMO.

TEs rarely have immediate impact as rookies.

Who cares about 5 years from now whether Harris gets a second contract? They got the best RB in the draft late in the first round.

I hate the term Baby-Gronk or mini-Gronk. People need to STFU. It seems like every decent TE has to be compared to Lord Gronk. I'd be happy for another Miller-like TE.

Like you said, rarely. Does not mean never. I believe that Pat can.

For me, Pat reminds me more of Zach Ertz with the versatility of George Kittle.

Hope so - supposed to be a relentless worker. Like this pick long term. Potential to be Heath++.

Well... Pat was a two time team captain for what it is worth! I would imagine that desire and perseverance would assist him in his development. That said, as I stated before, he is a mix of Zach Ertz and George Kittle.

That's a little too rich. I've seen everything from Eifert to Hooper to Hurst, nothing as lofty as those two.

I hate Patriots. They crushed mine and your dreams of #7 many times. Tomlin needs to go.

Gotta start somewhere, and a blue chip running back for the dreadful running game is as good a place as any.

People seem to forget how athletic Miller was early in his career. I don't know if Freiermuth can be that kind of threat down the field, but he can be a solid blocker who is a security blanket type receiver. Hell, I'll take a tight end with good hands after a couple of years of McDonald and then Ebron.

TE has been a position of need since Miller retired really, except for JJ being pretty dependable when called on. The Steelers struck gold by drafting Heath where they did, I can't remember why he slipped to them.

Heath had a sports hernia before the draft, he couldn't work out.

As Penn State Fan, I've seen Jesse James, Mike Gesicki, and Pat Freiermuth

Freiermuth is probably the most talented of the 3.

Jesse James has been serviceable at the NFL level.

Gesicki has gotten better each year at the NFL level, and he had a solid outing last season.

But, I think Freiermuth is the best, and I'm not just saying that becasue he's on the Steelers roster.

I'd say that if was drafted by anyone else. Had he not got hurt last season, and but up more solid numbers, he been drafted in the 1st round.

    This.

Freiermuth likely would have tested himself into First Round Territory had he not gotten hurt. If anything, Pitts and Freiermuth were the two best Tight End options in the Draft. Not saying others like Tremble or Hunter Long will not succeed but Pitts and Pat were the clear cut number one and number two Tight Ends respectively.
