Wow, 49ers will be getting a new QB, and the Dolphins are doubling down with Tua it seems

If they draft well, they will be a powerhouse.

12th pick from Schefter's post is missing for some reason.

Apparently according to a ‘source’ in SF they’ll keep him to ease the new guy in ala Smith / Mahomes, at least for part of the season.

They could just be putting that out there in order to buoy his trade value of course.

ESPN was talking about this, I do not see it in the tweet, and they may have included it on the deals already done, but they said they essentially turned the Tunsil trade into 4 1st round picks. That is some top notch GM work.

If they take Lance it would be prudent to keep Jimmy G and let him learn this year. No doubt the kid has tremendous upside, but you throw him out there to fast and it could hamper him a lot.

So essentially, they got a high 2nd this year, and an extra 1st two years from now to move down 3 spots in the draft.

Yup, wheeling and dealing, great work by him.

I don't get why this means they're committed to Tua? They've got plenty of draft ammo to trade for DWatson and still have 2 reasonable drafts over the next couple seasons.

Not that we need to, but could you imagine the Steelers doing something like this?

    There's just no way.

It’s possible they still trade for Watson but with his legal issues I doubt it happens this offseason. It will take some time to resolve all of those problems and there is a chance he gets a long suspension too.

Maybe it’s a case that the Dolphins are not sold on any of the QB’s this year and just decided to trade back and maximise their assets. No point staying at 1.3 if you’re not taking a QB.

I think Tua will get an opportunity to lead them this year and they’ll get him some weapons in the draft. Up to him after that.

It all depends on the QB. Colts had a fantastic roster last year, Rivers just wasn't up to it.

FWIW, PFF's Steve Palazzolo thinks Lance is the QB who falls in the first round. There's crazy talk of Mac Jones going top 5 now.

Some of these guys just cannot help themselves. The GM and HC window for success is limited, so the jump to take any QB at whatever cost is going to happen. One of the problems is being drafted that high you are expected to perform immediately, some of these guys are of course more polished and ready, but some, who may actually have talent that can be developed are thrown to the wolves without preparation, coaching, and talent around them.

It really depends on where you are picking in the draft. Going from 12 to 3 cost SF 2 future 1st round picks and a 3rd. Colbert has moved up to Troy and Bush, but there is no reality in moving from 24 to the top 5, doubtful you would even find a trade partner and the cost would set the franchise back years.

From everything I've watched. M. Jones should be the 2nd Qb taken. Of course I don't grade a Qb by how fast they run, or on just how strong their arm is.
    Just my opinion.

You're right and, I'm sorry, I don't have much faith in Tua. I don't get the Tua love.

Jones throws guys open, Tua waits for them to get open.
