The sad truth is that is all I know him for. He likes to go on social media, voice his opinion, pretend to know things and what not.

Isn't that because of injury, though? Kind of like saying Bush only played 25% of the snaps, we could afford to lose him.

they've always signed their own free agents first. As much as possible. They got caught this year with the collapse of the salary cap. They always play it close to the edge and this year they got caught. As to it not paying off as they always say Tomlin has never had a losing season. I don't think that means squat but it's part of the justification they would use. This year they're getting beaten up pretty good. Maybe they'll learn

    Per Schefter;
A trade: Bills are trading TE Lee Smith to the Atlanta Falcons for a 2022 late-round pick, per league source.

Some teams are trading 2022 picks for players, maybe Colbert should try and do the same to fill some holes , since we will be getting a few extr picks next year:shrug:

Bud's better now, Highsmith is ahead of where Bud was as a rookie.

Actually, PFF graded Highsmith higher in 2020, unblocked sacks and pressures not withstanding.

At this point I would rather see the Steelers just take their lumps now, and keep our 2022 draft picks. The Steelers will have some cap space to work with in 22'. 2021 is looking like a rough ride to me. At least we have the future to look forward to. No reason to mortgage it now for bandaids.

Bud Dupree is a freak of nature, but Highsmith may end up being a better all around player. I just hope he and Watt stay healthy this year. We have absolutely no depth behind those guys.

He also did that funny aggressive stance on kneel downs.

    That's all I got.

Seems like a feeling of gloom and doom from most...

Idk, Is this the end? Let's face it Ben's about done/ is done? No money per usual, kicking that can, but I usually don't get overly excited this time of year because...It is the "Steeler Way"...Retain some of your own, sign a few mid tier FA's, lose a few, cut a few, no BIG splashy signings...

But even for me this feels different... Different because, as I mentioned...

    Ben is/ about done...
OL is in shambles, and nothing really to address it...
Depth...Can't remember the depth looking this bad, scary bad...no depth at...

    OL...
    DL...
    LB's( inside and out )
    TE...
    RB...

We build through the draft, But I can't see how they're gonna address all these areas through the draft and so little cap room...

There will be a few restructures ( I think ) maybe another cut...But again, That's just the kicking the can analogy a lot like to use...

Idk,Would it be better to do a full blown rebuild ( Rooney and Tomlin would never ) But I just have this " stuck in a rut, decent, will never be great, wash rinse, repeat every year " don't stink, but really not good team either

Highsmith's pass rush isn't the issue. He needs to be able to hold the point of attack, and be able to set the edge to top the run.

Nick Martin a center is out there. He's a proven starter for a few years. Not sure what his price would be but maybe they can sign him without breaking the bank

Tackle eligible is Banner's claim to fame unfortunately it also led to the ugliest play ever to Chuks with a T.E. pass this season

I don't remember that play. Must have been particularly ugly

YES...You don't wanna "tank" but, this chasing your tail for mediocre talent year after year, and no cap room...HAS to stop! NEXT year load up...Ben gone, bunch of picks,MAYBE a higher draft position, and possibly the **** to have enough ammo to move up and land that NEXT great QB!

    OL...Decastro, Dotson, Finney/Huaser, Banner
    DL...Tuitt, Heyward, Buggs
LB's( inside and out ) TJ, Highsmith, Bush, Spillane
    TE...Ebron, Gentry, Raider
    RB...Snell, McFarland, Samuels

Deep draft at LT, they’ll select one for sure, they’ll walk away with a good one.

Losing Alualu sucks and not a great draft for the position from what I read, I haven’t actually looked at that group of prospects so I don’t know but they will probably have to do both draft and FA.

Losing Bud hurts but I still think they are in good shape at this position.

TE has to be addressed, can’t go into the season with just that. Most beat writers think they will bring in a FA, I think they will too.

RB will definitely be addressed in the draft, some good options in there. I also think McFarland is going to be a weapon under Canada.

Starter wise, they aren’t in terrible shape, they need depth. They can definitely attend to this via FA and draft.

Edit: Forgot center, I like Creed Humprhies in the draft, not a deep class though. Have to do something, can’t be those two manning the position for the whole season.

It was one of the times where they had 4 shots from the 1 and wasted a play throwing it to tackle eligible.

That was Jerald Hawkins, against the WFT iirc

What were they thinking with that play, then again, if it had worked it would have been deemed genius

The gnashing of teeth on this thread is getting ridiculous. Most of this was expected if you were paying attention. Dupree was always going to be gone. The only way they would have kept both Hilton and Sutton would have been to let Haden go, and that didn't seem likely. Feiler also seemed to be very likely to go, and honestly, he did not play well in 2020.

I thought they might re-sign Alualu and keep Williams, but really, this isn't far from what was expected.

Well both of those guys contributed to a degree last year but that’s an exception not the rule. Most years a 4th rounder is in a dog fight to make the team
