I don't think they had the vantage point to see exactly how close the ball was to hitting the turf. From the sideline, it probably looked like a fluke play that Franco legit caught. The crying came after they saw just how close it was to be a non-play. Just my opinion.

I don’t know, looks like it might be his dads from the 60’s!

He also owned a 1970 GTO, that’s a nice car. Guess he used the beater for work.

The Raiders realized, at that point, the Steelers were going to be quite the issue in the NFL for a decade to come.

Side Note: While this is not entirely relevant to the topic, I believe this is a perfect opportunity to remind everyone on the board what the 1978 Pittsburgh Steelers meant to not just the NFL but to North American Team Based Professional Sports as well. That team, to me, is the greatest team in North American Professional Sports Team History. That team showcased a VERY simple yet VERY difficult concept that many teams to this day have a very difficult time getting right; balance. Without it, your teams chances of winning the biggest game goes right out the window.

Let me repeat this in the highest frequencies of occurrence; not one individual will single handedly win any team a title and let alone one side of a team the same barring EXTREME CIRCUMSTANCES. Those teams are outliers and not norms. Why is this being stated as such one may ask?!

There is a CERTAIN QB that, for whatever reason, somehow TRANSCENDS this logic of thinking. For those of you that do not know who I am talking about, that is that guy in Kansas City. Ironically enough, it was up to the Tampa Bay Bucs WITH the most hated man in the NFL for over a decade to reinforce this point.

Curt Gowdy was awesome, but Art Fleming's call of this play is iconic. It is as big as the play itself.

Awesome! That wasn't an "old truck" in 1972 though. Lol

That's right those games were days of blackouts. I remember my friends and I driving to southeastern Ohio early Sunday morning and get a hotel room to watch the game. Crazy times

Maybe the old gray cells aren’t what they used to be? I thought I read the fans had left but the pictures look otherwise.

I do know Art Rooney senior did not see the play. He was riding the elevator down to the locker room.

Actually, I misread Knox post the first time, I thought he was saying that was a 1972 model.

That thing looks about 10 years old to me.

Wish I had it. That is in great condition. Only ford I ever owned was an 72 Truck. Not that anyone cares. Hell I didn't even remember it till I seen this one....which like I said I believe is a 69.

Haha. Imagine people looking at pictures of our rides 50 years from now and talking about what old beaters they look like as they ride around in their personal space craft.

1971 2WD with a tow package. Absolute tank. The neighbor has a '78 F-250 4FWD with a 390CI big block. I went with him to his dad's place to pick up a garden tractor......lol. That thing would pull a house over.

Believe me, I care.....lol. I'm an unabashed Ford man, I've had real good luck with them. If my wife has to hear me say how I'm buying a '63 1/2 Galaxie with a big block when I cash my retirement in one more time, I may not make it to retirement, lol.

Many years later I was at a game with my new wife and the Steelers were loosing late in the game. She asked if we could leave early. I looked at her and said “NO, we never leave early”. Then I told her why. She has never thought about leaving early again.

    I’ve been looking for a 1959 Willys CJ5. I had one 40 years ago. Top off. 4wd. I thought I was cool.
